Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina over Chuck DeVore in California, and Terry Branstad over Bob Vander Plaat in the Iowa governor's race. In doing so, she rebuffed standard "tea party" picks for candidates who were more mainstream.
As usual, the mainstream media has found a way to criticize these choices.
With a few surprising endorsements in recent Republican primaries, the self-styled rogue of GOP politics has reaped an angry response from some of her own supporters and a fresh round of speculation about her own presidential ambitions in 2012.
...Shelby Blakely, executive director of the Tea Party Patriots' online publication, New Patriot Journal, said Palin's endorsement has become "so undependable, it's marginalized itself." While she once thought highly of Palin, Blakely said that over the past two years the "Going Rogue" author has gone more establishment, and Palin's failure to criticize her own party is bothersome. "There's room for criticism (all around)," Blakely said. "If you're not willing to call it where you see it, that's useless."
I find analysis such as this especially humorous given the recent round of articles praising Palin for her astute electoral picks. With Palin, though, nothing can ever go without criticism if she's picking correctly, she's making somebody mad, and so she's clearly doing something wrong. It's a convenient narrative for those who are simply seeking to marginalize the tea party movement, the Republican Party, and conservatism in general.
I’ve decided I will simply post on these threads and ask the same question:
Who is the ideal conservative out there? Who is your ideal candidate? Who do you support as carrying the Conservative torch?
And then I will apply the same standards those tearing down a given candidate to their own favored candidate. So far, either no candidate has been proffered, or those who were put forth were found wanting when the same standards were applied to their own candidates.
The country should spend more time criticizing the leftist cabal that’s running it.
“Im just wondering what many here would consider a suitable candidate if Palin is a RINO.”
Good query, except your premise is erroneous. But first I would suggest we hear from the PDS faction. Oh, sorry, that won’t happen because they exist to attack Palin and wouldn’t be able to withstand any scrutiny of their choices.
PDS libtards are not qualified to define the term “RINO”.
If I were to build the ideal conservative I would want Duncan Hunter’s agility with numbers and experience with the house armed forces committee. John Bolton’s tough diplomatic prowess. Sara Palin’s obvious popularity, charisma and her ability to talk to the people + her organizational and management skills.
If we could swap those three with Obozo, Biden, and Clinton, I’d be one happy camper.
An ironic catch is that the more "but he/she can win" pragmatic the Republican is, the more likely that candidate will find it impossible to resist making nice with the angry left. Especially when that Republican agrees in principle with the left's foundation in meddlesome government.
I’m sick of the sarah bashers who offer no alternative, no possible candidate better than her, and would rather lose with a 10 out 10 candidate than win w a 8 out of 10 candidate.
Remember another thing, many of the holier than thou types around here called chris christie a rino before he won too. I give almost no consideration to people intent on losing.

I just think its bad news to get too firmly attatched to any politician this far out from an election.
I just barely managed to force myself to vote in the last election and Palin was the only reason I did. She’s obviously much smarter than McCain and far more conservative. I pulled the lever for them in hopes that a Vice President Palin would be a strong enough personality to drag McCain to the right if only a little.
However, there are a few freepers who visit every thread to trash her. They are doing the work of the liberals for them. They do this under the guise of attacking her "worshipers".
The PDS faction is AWOL from this topic so far. How nice!
I’ve said it many times, it isn’t healthy to agree with a politician 100% of the time. Good on ya!
You cannot read through a good analysis of her views, even her visit with Maggie Thatcher, without the thread getting derailed. You have to start wondering.
How about Palin/Thompson or Palin/Barbour with Bolton at State and Hunter as SecDef?
Palin/Barbour with Bolton at State and Hunter as SecDef sounds good to me.
I apologize for my insulting post earlier, but I almost feel as protective towards the Governor as I would towards my mother, sister or wife after all the sh*t they’ve thrown at her since 2008. Please forgive me.
My apologies as well. Living in Michigan has made me pretty nit picky about politics.
We’re good.
Promising headline. Not much in the story, though.
Vote for McCain!
What brand of eye shadow is that?
