Mitt Romney may end up being the biggest GOP casualty of ObamaCare -- his 2012 presidential hopes dashed before he's even announced a bid.
Mr. Romney has continued vociferously campaigning against ObamaCare even while defending a very similar universal health-care plan he signed into law as Massachusetts's governor in 2006. Last week, he inveighed on the National Review blog that "President Obama has betrayed his oath to the nation . . . . he has succumbed to the lowest denominator of incumbent power: justifying the means by extolling the ends."
Critically, Republicans need to win the presidency in order to have any shot at repealing ObamaCare, as many GOPers insist should be the goal. Imagine Mr. Romney trying to carry this banner in 2012 in a debate with fellow GOP primary opponents. His Republican rivals would get plenty of mileage from a quote by MIT's Jonathan Gruber, a former Romney adviser who bragged that ObamaCare would never have happened if Mr. Romney hadn't made "the decision in 2005 to go for it. He is in many ways the intellectual father of national health reform."
Mr. Romney has been frantically trying to distinguish the bills to conservatives. At Iowa State on Monday he claimed: "We solved our problem at the state level. Like it or not, it was a state solution." In Chicago last week, he said: "Our bill was carried out in a bipartisan basis." Judging by the questions he gets from audiences, voters aren't buying it. The Club for Growth has gone so far as to say that Mr. Romney's "in the wrong party."(continued)

I wonder who'll be left?
Ron Paul of course. ;-)
For the whole series of Zero dollar bills, go here:
Hopefully no more 2008 retreads
This has been Obama’s pattern of behavior since he first started running for public office. He likes to remove the competition early and without getting his hands dirty. I believe he is afraid of Palin, so far his efforts against her haven’t worked.
Ron Paul, of course!! [kookoo, kookoo!]
Every dark cloud has a silver lining.
I’d estimate that the GOP has exactly one more chance to get a good, conservative nominee, or it’s gonna be curtains for them and America.
At some point, there ain’t gonna be a second chances, no more mulligans, no more Bob Dole’s turn, none of that crap. It’s going to be win right now or lose the country forever.
O tried to day with the oil drilling deal. I won’t work on Sarah tho. Cap & Tax is a deal breaker in his attempt to take the issue from Sarah.
You people are nuts. That’s it ... trash Romney. We will have no one to put up against Obama and he will win re-election.
I am convinced that many of you anti-Romney people are MoveOn / Huffington Post posters pretending to care about the USA.
I think Sarah could really cause him to lose it -
Someone who knows what they are fighting for.
I’m a MA resident. My accountant and I were talking while she did my taxes. She needed my health insurance plan ID number which is required to be put on the state tax form. She told me one of her clients is a younger guy(
auto mechanic) who didn’t have any insurance. The state took his refund($400) and he owes the state another $600 all because he had no insurance
MSM getting scared?
I knew this was coming. I think Krauthammer also made reference to this.
This is the beginning of the end for Romney.
Romney is NOT our only one.
The writer is 8 months out of college in The Peoples’ Republic of California with a degree in whatever the hell “American Studies” is, and someone with an IQ of over 14 wants to listen to her opinion on anything, much less who will be the next American president?
Some salient points:
#1: Romney can defuse MassCare in 2 minutes.
“Yes we it passed in Massachusetts. I wasn't just in favor of it. I bought the phony statistics and liberal promises big time. I was totally in favor it. I pushed for it... and boy, was I wrong. It was and is a disaster. Other than obamacare, it's the worst healthcare mistake America ever made. It was the worst, most wrong, most foolish decision of my life. I thought it might work. We didn't know better. i
The only thing worse is, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats, they knew better. They had seen the Massachusetts Medical Monster. They knew it was a disaster, but they went ahead and passed it nationwide.
Actually, They didn't pass it nationwide. They passed something much worse. And they didn't really pass it as much as they bribed it into passage with the Louisiana Purchase, The Cornhusker Kickback and a thousand other backroom deals. They took your money, gave it to people who didn;t deserve it, and crammed this Medical Monstrosity down your throat.
The one good thing about the Massachusetts Medical Monster.... actually the Massachusetts Mistake is that we know now how bad it is. We don't have to wait forObamacare to destroy America. We don't have to wait for Obamacare to poison your relationship with your doctor. We don;t have to wait until people we love die because of Obamacare. Because of the Massachusetts Medical Monster, we know how bad Obamacare is and will be.... but we don;t have to sit still and let it kill our healthcare, we don't have sit still and let it kill our economy. We don't have to sit still and let it kill us!
We can elect responsible Republicans... and replace Obamacare before it kills us!”
End of issue
#2: Are we really going to sit still and let FR descend into just a Hate Romney site? I don't like him, but we are better than that!
