Brown hasn’t made one vote so how do we know he’s a Rino other than the FR true conservatives say so? Guess some of us will wait before we throw the star of MA down the elevator shaft. Guess a true conservative would rather the commie won. Guess I’m not or ever going to be a true conservative, Thank God!

Pray for America and Scott Brown

I see the lessons of 2006 and 2008 still have not sunk in with the 100%er crowd. Only God is perfect. Nothing of men ever is. Demanding perfect purity in Politics is a sure prescription for political irrelevance. This is why the Libertarian wing of the Conservative movement has been so completely ineffective for the last 20 years. This is why you people always lose to the RINOS. They all keep wasting all their time making the perfect the enemy of the good. They are so busying spending all their time worrying about the dogmatic purity in their political allies they never have any time, or energy left to fight the Leftists on anything. They are so busy factionalizing their political base into competing interest groups, they have nothing left to ever fight the progressives. No wonder they continually kick the conservatives asses in election after election. As one famous Conservative leader said " A man who agrees with me 80% of the time is a trusted friend and ally, not a 20% traitor" Curious what these sort of ideological purist would of said about a President who presided over a worse recession then this current one, appointed a Liberal to the Supreme Court, Raised taxes 6 times, doubled the size of the Fed Budget in 8 years. Spent, prior to this regime, record deficits. Ran away from a Muslim terrorist threat. Signed an illegal Alien Amnesty. Lost control of the US Senate to the Democrats on his watch. What would you say about that? Using the sort of purist dogma exposed on this thread, and every other possible thread daily, I suspect, the 100%er crowd would be screaming "RINO" at that former President and assigning him to rank down there with Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, U.S. Grant, and Warren Harding as one of America’s worst Presidents because he did not pass their personal ideological purity test. - - - - - - That President was Ronald Reagan. Probably the greatest President of the 20th Century. Reagan had words for your sort of ideological 100%er. By Ronald Reagan in his autobiography An American Life “When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it. “Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything. I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’ If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.”

Excellent post! Bears repeating but I am afraid you are wasting your time. I have been trying to say this for years. I have been called a RINO, appeaser, butt kisser, etc. and thats some of the nicer names.

Hopefully McCain will lose to J.D. Hayworth in the primary,

I think Sarah and Scott Brown may very well be hoping for this, too. I think Sarah is repaying a debt and Scott Brown is new and doesn't want to start out making waves.

This isn't about ideological purity. McCain cannot be trusted and he represents what is wrong with our movement. We cannot count on him. He went bad in the early nineties.

He was a great senator at one time, but his desire to be a favorite on the press party circuit and a player in Washington has done him in. He outdoled Dole during that awful presidential campaign.

Those people here defending him I believe to be quite delusional, but I'm not going to get into a urinating match with our usual Freeper Rino’s. They never learn and won't.

I am tired of being told that we must vote for sellouts like McCain

I don't think anyone is advocating voting for McCain. Just trying to get people to not get so bent out of shape because Sarah Palin and Scott Brown are going to stump for him. Cut them some slack. I think they look at McCain as an old war horse and maybe there is some pity there because like it or not, he sacraficed greatly for his country. I doubt many people on this thread would take the kind of torture he went through without cracking. And he could have went home ahead of his fellow prisoners and didn't. That has to show character.

Who pray tell - is Conservative Enough for you?

What I see is after every sign that the Republican Party is being reborn out comes the Ron Paul people and the Scorched Earth Libertarians trying to shoot them down again with the overuse of the term RINO. Afraid that a rejuvenated GOP spells doom for your nut-job candidate.

Gee, you and I are seeing a rebirth of America of the people and by the people. Is it a coincidence that this is occuring at the same time that Sarah Palin is standing politics on its head?

Is there a possibility that the populism she espouses is resonating and may turn out to be the counterpoint to creeping (now rushing) socialism?

How did she get onto the national stage?

I don’t like McCain or his policies, but I love the fact that he helped bring her here now.

Most people only do a few great things in their lives - this was John’s finest moment.

“Brown hasn’t made one vote so how do we know he’s a Rino other than the FR true conservatives say so? “

The anti Palin and anti Brown posts I believe are coming from four main sources:

1) The Paulista’s No explanation needed. Its Ron Paul or noboy for them.

2) Berthers. And I’m talking about the hard-core tinfoil hat Berthers, not the rest of us who have our suspicions but don’t make it the number one issue. These are the ones who see Palin, Scott Brown, or any Republican as an enemy if they don’t latch on to their conspiracy theory or support their fellow Berther candidates.

3) Scorched Earth Libertarians, who see Palin and Brown as a catalyst for the rebirth of the GOP, and a reborn GOP scares the hell out of them.

4) Hard-core Romney, or Huckster supporters still jealous of this young upstart from Eskimo country who knocked their person off the radar screen.

You nailed it and not being a member of any of those groups makes me question them repeatedly. I have no problem w/them other than their attempt to create division among the movement.

Pray for America and Gov Palin

Sarah herself said last night that primary battles are good so in effect she is not marginalizing JD Hayworth (and in fact even encouraging him a little), should he win.

here in KY, SP endorsed Rand Paul over McConnell’s establishmnet nominee Grayson, a Harvard lawyer who originally was a Dim and voted for Clinton in ‘92, blech!

here in KY, I will vote for whomever SP endorses but in AZ I would definitely retire McCain, assuming there is confidence hayworth can win the general and all R’s should in 2010, knowing that SP will be thankful later

Brown I can at least understand campaigning for McCain - don’t like it, but at least its understandable. Palin, on the other hand....well, her apologists can make all the excuses about “loyalty” they want. well, her apologists can make all the excuses about “loyalty” they want.

LOL. Brown can do it -- Palin can't.

Your make-all-the-excuses-about-loyalty (a.k.a apologist) post is ironic.

How is you supporting JD, with whom you have disagreements, any different than Sarah stumping for McCain? It isn’t.

Palin is sending mixed signals at best by pronouncing conservative ideals while at the same time endorsing McAmnesty who votes with the socialist RATs on many of the issues.

What kind of signals did Reagan send when he chose Richard Schweiker to be his one-heartbeat-away VP?

I believe Sarah's endorsement of McCain is wrong. I believe Reagan's VP pick was far worse. Yet it didn't stop me from supporting Reagan who went on to become our gold standard of modern day presidents.

Those ACU numbers are 100% BS. You don’t see Ron Paul in the GANG OF 14! You are irrelevant.

Brown is actually to the right of McStain on most issues. Their only common bond is former military loyalty. Brown will learn that McLiberal is not to be trusted. Palin is also under a false loyalty pretense backing the traitor. I didn't waste my vote on Brown for a McLame hijacking.

Arizona: Please send JUAN McAMNESTY packing like the Kennedys

Your make-all-the-excuses-about-loyalty (a.k.a apologist) post is ironic.

What's ironic about it?

Brown "can do it" because we already know that he's a "soft" conservative at best, and will likely be prone to the sort of "go-along-to-get-along" mentality that drives too much of the GOP as it is.

Palin, on the other hand, was touted as being the Last Best Conservative Hope For All Mankind - yet, she's turning into exactly the sort of sellout compromiser that we'd all despite if it were anybody else but Saint Sarah of Wasilla.

If I want a solid, electable conservative for 2012, I'm looking to Jim DeMint, not Sarah Palin.
