Uh-oh. Obama's fringe-left credentials are really starting to show. When his good buddies in the MSM start liking John McCain's ideas, something is really wrong. And do I smell the faint odor of the Post's approval of nuclear power as well?

What is clearly needed is the US drilling and refining the vast oil reserves we have in ANWR, the Gulf, the Pcific, and the oil shales. That will end the manipulation by OPEC and other nations, which is the real issue here.
If we were serious about going after these reserves (meaning putting the kabosh via executive order as a result of national security on the endless delays caused over done environemtal regulations) we would see the fuel from the ANWR and Gulf and Pacific fiekds within two years.
Just announcing that we were dead serious about this and then proceeding with it would see OPEC immediately cut ts prices drastically to try and make it economically unfeasable for us.
All of this hogwash about ten years, and not impacting OPEC are just that...hogwash...and Obama and his handlers know it.
THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA
If gasoline gets to $8 dollars per gallon this Summer, the Obama Love Affair will be over. Lofty ideals are great on paper and in speeches but a hurting wallet speaks louder.
heating oil is the issue. The elitists can say let’em park their SUV’s, but heating oil’s tracking with diesel, it seems to me. Obama’s answer sounds like “let them eat cake.”
It seems to be the people would be so engulfed in change that if indeed gas goes higher this summer, people would vote for Hussein. IMHO
Of course if people paid attention to his words and looked at his code words, they would understand that economy is going down tube if Obama Hussein is elected.
Those big ears aren’t going to help him then.
You make an outstanding point. These reserves will take much capital to extract. Today’s prices make that a profitable enterprise even with the cost. OPEC et al will do much to prevent the opening of this additional supply and you are absolutely correct that they will use a significant price drop to persuade us to forego the development of these sources. Hopefully they will drop prices and we will still go ahead with exploration and extraction and nukes.
We should then proceed anyway making sure our companies understand that in the end, the "new" fees the Saudis and others would have to pay to play in our market would make it economically feasable in any case for our companies...permanently.
Drill now, keep jobs and $$$ in America for America.
If you like $5/gal, Thank Congress.
Pray for W and Our Troops
I heard on TV this morning that the USA is using 6% of its land for drilling and a paltry 2% of its coastal waters. We are crazy for paying through the nose to placate some enviro-nazis at the expense of our nation’s economy.
Shame on any politician who would ruin this country for campaign contributions from the Sierra Club and George Soros.
Washington Post has Barry wrong on Iraq and now wrong on energy. We may see the devil order a parka when the WaPo issues its endorsement for the 2008 Presidential race.
G’night all!
