Why Do Jews Still Vote Democrat?
Environmental Republican ^ | June 8, 2008

The media fell all over themselves when Obama spoke in front of AIPAC as he did his best to cozy up to the Jewish community. But the media fails to mention that the liberal wing of the Democrat party is dangerously close to outright anti-Semitism (if not there already). Charles Johnson has detailed this extensively every time someone at Obama-backing Daily Kos (including old "screw them" Kos himself) lets down their guard and lets their true anti-Semitism be seen.

Still the Jewish vote goes for whatever Democrat happens to be running. I'm guessing that they feel that a Jewish president or vice presidential candidate will eventually be elected and he or she will be a Democrat. What they fail to see what the libs did to Joe Lieberman as soon as he strayed too far off the reservation for their liking; they advocated hard against him forcing him to win as an independent.

But what of Barack Obama? Well, his own site delved into the anti-Semitic waters today before being expunged from the site. Charles carries these two screen caps:

(AT LINK)

Pleasant, huh? This from sites that are run and owned by Obama or his people. Note in the second image the Star of David with a dollar sign, a nice touch there.

Back to Obama speaking at AIPAC. He said the right things but why do I get the feeling that his people are talking to Muslim leaders and saying that he really didn't mean it, it's just politics you know like when he called for the repeal of NAFTA and his people were telling Canada and expressing that it was just politically expedient to say such things. You know, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Maybe one day the Jews will wake up and realize that the GOP has done more for Jews and Israel than the Donks ever did. President Bush was fully supportive of the Israeli attacks against Syrian nuke sites and has been about the best friend they have had going back to the anti-Israeli Durban conference. Perhaps they will finally get it when Obama abandons them when they need it most.

They embrace liberalism because they want to be seen as elite by the elites.

This thread is about a group of people whose historical voting pattern is heavily-weighted to one party. Catholics vote about 50-50 across the board, they don’t belong in this discussion, and who cares about one segment of the Catholic block, especially when half of them are illegals.

It's notable how often this question has been publicly discussed in recent weeks, largely owning to the ascension of Barack Obama to the status of presumptive Democrat nominee. Obama's close association with anti-Israeli, pro-Palestinian, and sometimes outright anti-Semitic characters begs the question of whether American Jews will at long last break with their past practice of supporting Democrats unreservedly and in great numbers.

The answer at this time is not yet clear, but from what I have seen and heard personally, this Presidential election is likely to be different than ones in the recent past when gauged by the depth of Jewish support for the Democrat standard-bearer.

I am Jewish - and have been a conservative Republican for more than 25 years. I am a decided minority within a minority - but I am not alone. The phenomenon of Jewish -Democrat affiliation has been explored in depth by many observers over the years and better than I can do in this space. Suffice it to say that it is a cultural and not a religious phenomenon, in part an accident of history and of location, and has endured in spite of broader assimilation by Jews into mainstream American life. Years - centuries of persecution, actually, have created an instinctive bond among American Jews that is reinforced by physical proximity, predominantly in the New York metropolitan area, but in other enclaves as well, such as Brookline, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut; Skokie, Illinois; the larger Los Angeles, CA area; and Miami, Florida.

This year, there is a buzz, and an unfamiliar one for many. Much of this is occurring quietly, below the radar, so to speak, but it is real and more significant than the usual cultural angst that one would expect from a people who tend to be more than a little openly emotional in any event.

Take it for what it's worth, but in speaking with my Jewish friends and relatives, few of whom share my proud right-wing views, they are very, very nervous about Barack Obama, his entourage, and his meshuggenah wife. Several have quietly informed me that they plan to vote for John McCain, but haven't yet told anyone. The consensus is that Obama would not only be bad for Israel's security, but his lack of experience and the radical anger of the people around him would be bad for America's as well. Anecdotal evidence, to be sure, but the one thing you've got to know about us Jews is that we like to tell a good story, and this could be a very interesting one indeed.

Very well said. Problem is they have done more than just ‘supress’ they are tipping over into the destroy category. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to destroy one's own homeland.

...most were raised as "Red Diaper Doper Babies"...

Forget the "doper" part for a second, which didn't come into the picture until the ultraleft got into the "social revolution" of the 60s. That certainly wasn't predominantly Jewish, although Jewish youth participated in disproportional percentages.

There were a few "Red Diaper Babies" in just about every Jewish community in the late 40s and 50s, although they were a distinct minority within a minority.. The large majority of American Jews during that period were distinctly patriotic and anti-Soviet, and many fought the Reds successfully for control of Jewish and predominantly Jewish institutions, e.g., unions.

So you are overestimating the percentage of (nominally) Jewish Commies during the post-WWII era.

IMHO, most of our "lox and bagel" (secular) Jewish brothers ans sisters confuse social justice with socialism.

The next time you hear anyone - Jewish or not - talk about "social justice," ask him to define what "social justice" is and watch him hem and haw. It's just some meaningless Marxist catch phrase. Judaism embraces the concept of righteous justice, not "social justice." Imposing "social justice" inevitably creates injustice.

The issue of why Jews vote predominantly for ‘Rats has come up very frequently in FR discussions over the several years I’ve been here.

I’d suggest that there has been a slow movement away from the ‘Rats over the past several decades, as younger Jews are more likely to convert to the GOP than their parents and grandparents. This will be accelerated in future generations because of, among other factors, more orthodox Jews in the Jewish population because of larger birth rates.

The ‘Rat policies and agenda, of course, are increasingly troublesome to the American Jewish community as a whole.

As to McCain vs. Obama, look for McCain to get at least 40% of the Jewish vote, the largest percentage for a GOP presidential candidate since Harding in 1920.

"So you are overestimating the percentage of (nominally) Jewish Commies during the post-WWII era."

I don't think so...

When I look at the makeup of the ACLU, the most leftist organizations in the U.S. -- such as Code Pink, MoveOn.com, KOS, etc, etc, etc......, the lunatic Leftist wing of the Democrat party, Hollywood, Radical Environmental groups, Teacher's unions and Civil Service -- together with their most prolific and enabling donors -- I see a grossly disproportionate ratio of Jewish members in these groups whick I see as simply "useful idiots" serving the agenda of the Communists and other enemies of the Republic.

We are dealing with liberal Jews and asking them to make an unprincipled exception to liberalism on an ethnic/religious basis. They want to change America, just slower than the left. Asking them to care about America is a waste of time.

But the Democrat party and liberalism do not serve Jewish interests.
Liberalism is destroying Judaism and the Democrats support wealth redistribution and racial Marxism, both of which hurt Jews.
American Jews are acting on the base of grievance politics, and indoctrinated liberalism not logic.

The fact remains that although American Jews are disproportinally represented in the many of the most leftist organizations, it is not true that the majority of American Jews have ever supported communism. I was referencing the period of the late 40s and early 50s, when domestic communism seemed to have peaked. It's also true, BTW, that Jews are disproportianately represented in the "neoconservative" intellectual movement, and many of the left attacks on "neocons" are have been tinged with antisemitism.

I don’t dispute for a moment - that there are “righteous Jews” in America... In significant numbers.

However — it is difficult to ignore the frequency with which Jews I regard as supporting or representing the organizations or movements which I despise and will fight to my dying day are peopled and fronted by a DISPROPORTIONATE number of non-Righteous Jews.

Man for man, woman for woman — I found it more likely that I could trust, respect and enjoy the company of Jews I dealt with in Western Europe or the Middle East to a much larger degree than with those I came into contact with in America....most especially those from the North East and West Coast of America.

I’m beginning to believe that America must have been selected as the “home” of the lost tribe of Israel — the “stupid Leftist” tribe. < /sarcasm>

There was another “organization” I noticed American Jews being represented in a disproportionate manner... The enlisted and Officer ranks of the United States Marine Corps...
THOSE were the MOST righteous of the Jews I’ve met in my lifetime.

Righteous sounds so much better than Orthodox. Who came up with the label and then compared Orthodox Jews to Evangelical fundies? The Communist Jews?

The propaganda still holds to this day.

I will adopt the term Righteous Jew as a counter measure. Thanks.

It’s very easy to tell a “Righteous” Jew from the others...

The Righteous Jew is a warrior, with character and courage — who has and will take up arms to defend his nation and his rights to be a Jew -— WHEREVER he or she happens to live.

The non-Righteous Jew is EVERYONE’s Stereotype of the maneuvering, double dealing, corrupt, Leftist, Surrender Monkey, DEMOCRAT apparently self loathing Jew.

I served with several Righteous Jews — and they were NOTHING like most of the Jews we see in Congress, Hollywood, MoveOn.org, KOZ, Code Pink, Boobs not Bombs, the Democrat Party, Soros, ACLU, etc, etc.

In other words..these people are JINOs. Con artists and carnival freaks would rate better in my opinion.
