Flapsblog ^ | Jan 27, 2007

January 29, 2007

A Giuliani fund-raiser will be held Jan. 29 in Pacific Palisades, Calif., at the home of Bill Simon, the 2002 Republican candidate for governor of California, costing $2,300 a person and $4,600 per couple.

January 30, 2007:

Mary Bono’s campaign is sponsoring a golf event to raise funds for Giuliani’s committee on Tuesday, at the Rancho Mirage home and golf course of Edra Blixseth, Porcupine Creek Golf Club. Information: (310) 500-4284 or by e-mail at events@marybono.com

February 1, 2007:

Texas Republican contributors are being solicited to spend $30,000 for dinner with former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Feb. 1 to finance his “presidential exploratory committee.” The “private” dinner will follow a 6:30 to 8 p.m. cocktail reception, costing $2,100 a person and $4,200 for couples.

The best-known host of Giuliani’s Houston event is billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr., chairman of the private equity firm BP Capital Management. Also on Giuliani’s Texas fund-raising team are Tom Hicks, whose company owns the Texas Rangers baseball team; oil industry executive Jim Lee; and lawyer Patrick C. Oxford.

So, you are predicting that Rudy cannot win :-)

You cannot hold the base by holding multiple positions that large segments of the base cannot accept. That is proven by history, not hypotheticals.

I call into question the ACLU also so what does that make me?

The ACLU is an enemy of conservatives. Pro-lifers are not.

If you cannot tell the difference between the two, God help you.

My gawd, she just compared pro-life groups to the ACLU. Just when I thought PKM's political depravity could not sink any lower.

I will give this to the Romney folks. They at least realize the need to build a bridge to the right wing. The Rudy folks seem to think they can win without us, and almost enjoy spitting on our values.

As liberal as Romney is, I'm actually open to hearing what he has to say. Despite his less than acceptable political views, he's got good character and is a loyal family man. While he has mistakenly believed that he could be personally against abortion but for a woman's right to "choose" to have her child butchered, he would never dream of stating that he would gladly pay for his own daughter's abortion.

You are predicting that Rudy will not win the nomination. Do you predict that Hunter will?

"Rudy does not support Gay Marriage and never has..."

But he does in fact support homosexual "rights" (read: "homosexual agenda rights") so what's the difference? He still supports their cohabitation and same benefits as married homosexuals.

Me too. As I said before, I prefer consrvative ephipanies that do not coincide with seeking a new political office.

But a suspect conservative ephipany is vastly better than the supporters of Rudy crapping on conservative positions.

But Rudy SAYS he doesn't support gay marriage! Isn't that enough for you!?

As liberal as Romney is, I'm actually open to hearing what he has to say.

He is talking pro-life, pro-gun and anti-amnesty.

He has shown the ability to listen to the base, something that Bush has often failed to do.

Show any posts of me promoting abortion, EV. But please answer: How do you feel you are doing so far in preventing abortions nation-wide?

Since I can't stand to see you continue to post this nonsensical crap dozens and dozens of times on every Giuliani thread I'll answer for you.

We're not doing great because 34 years ago the Supreme Court usurped the power of the states and the will of the people and declared abortion on demand the law of the land.

I will guarantee you this, once Roe is overturned and it will be overturned, we'll be doing much, much better and in your state you'll be one of the first to enjoy it.

How about a figure. Deport thinks at least $100 million. How much do you think Hunter will need?
Let me correct the number.... I incorrectly used a wrong number..... Here is the quote I was referring to. It's $500,000,000 for each Party's candidate to make the primary/general campaign. That's one billion dollars to elect a president. Unbelievable. No single digit candidate will come close to that kind of money and thus can't get the necessary team in place or buy the media runs necessary to get their message out and counter the opposition's attacks.

Strategists from both parties had estimated last year that the 2008 race could cost each nominee $500 millionfar more than the Presidential Election Campaign Fund could afford. It is financed through the $3 checkoff on federal income tax returns.

I wonder when the Rudy boosters will turn on Bush's pro-life stances to pimp their guy.

I doubt that will happen. What has happened here for a long time though is that the self proclaimed "real conservatives" have turned on the President. That's always made me wonder how much they value his pro-life policies and other social conservative positions.

Yeah, what Rudy says today is not what he has said for years in the past. Oh, I forgot -- these liberals want us to forget those old quotes.

Whoa man, you're scaring me. You're almost sounding as if you think he means it.

It's all relative.

After listening to Rudy boosters dump on conservative values all day long, it's almost a relief to hear a dude at least give our values lip service.

A sad statement, but true. One would think the Rudy boosters could learn from such, but their arrogance knows no boundaries.
