Giuliani Notes: Dollars for Rudy (Upcoming Fundraisers for Mayor Rudy Giuliani)
Flapsblog ^ | Jan 27, 2007

January 29, 2007

A Giuliani fund-raiser will be held Jan. 29 in Pacific Palisades, Calif., at the home of Bill Simon, the 2002 Republican candidate for governor of California, costing $2,300 a person and $4,600 per couple.

January 30, 2007:

Mary Bono’s campaign is sponsoring a golf event to raise funds for Giuliani’s committee on Tuesday, at the Rancho Mirage home and golf course of Edra Blixseth, Porcupine Creek Golf Club. Information: (310) 500-4284 or by e-mail at events@marybono.com

February 1, 2007:

Texas Republican contributors are being solicited to spend $30,000 for dinner with former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Feb. 1 to finance his “presidential exploratory committee.” The “private” dinner will follow a 6:30 to 8 p.m. cocktail reception, costing $2,100 a person and $4,200 for couples.

The best-known host of Giuliani’s Houston event is billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr., chairman of the private equity firm BP Capital Management. Also on Giuliani’s Texas fund-raising team are Tom Hicks, whose company owns the Texas Rangers baseball team; oil industry executive Jim Lee; and lawyer Patrick C. Oxford.

I take it you cannot or dare not make a prediction - meaning you are just bull sh!tting at the moment.

How do you feel you are doing so far in preventing abortions nation-wide?

Torie, I want you to save that post and bring it to the future one that dirtboy and I briefly discussed.

You're definitely invited, especially since I don't know who Savonarola is, and that sounds informative. I'll do a vanity post of some sort, but I do want to have the discussion. I'll learn something, even if the rest of you have it all figured out already.

This thread has gone to hell, so it's not the place to start a useful discussion.

How does your conscience feel, being a cheerleader for the NARAL ghouls?

I really cannot figure out how the Rudy boosters seek to sell their candidate with such blatant displays of political depravity. Phi Kap Mom impunged the pro-life movement. Peach works long and hard to tear down the Reagan legacy.

I will give this to the Romney folks. They at least realize the need to build a bridge to the right wing. The Rudy folks seem to think they can win without us, and almost enjoy spitting on our values.

Absent that, the "base" is moving target

I would agree with that.

There are no way, Jose voters - deny me my one-issue and furgetabboutit. And there are some who will let one or two issues slide.

However, to win both types of base voters, you don't belittle their views as the Rudy folks have done too often.

Show a post where I have promoted abortion, EV.

But do answer the question: How do you feel you are doing so far in preventing abortions nation-wide?

No, I'm not stupid enough to predict what cannot be reasonably be foretold, unlike you.

At this point in 1991, Bush the Elder looked absolutely invincible.

You do it every day. You despise pro-lifers, and that hatred oozes from your posts.

I'm against abortions, but you make it sound as if Rudy was responsible for those abortions. You could have asked the same question for any other politicians, Bush included. Neither Bush nor Rudy were/are responsible for those abortions.

Bush did not support abortion and signed into law several bills that restricted abortion, he supported policies that restricted abortion to include banning abortions on military installations, he recognizes the sanctity of life and spoke annually or sent a message of support to the pro-life marchers that come into Washington every January. Giuliani is the most pro-abortion Republican I've ever encountered, he supported abortion on demand as Mayor, supported taxpayer-funded abortions, was lauded as a "Champion of Choice" for his pro-abortion policies and statements by the National Abortion Rights Action League, and he continued the culture of death in NYC while mayor. He may not be responsible for those abortions (well, God may have something to say about that, but that's up to God) but he certainly didn't lift a finger to hinder it in any way and, in fact, supported the slaughter of nearly 1,000,000 unborn children in NYC during his term.

Well, it sounded like name calling to me, I expect better from a Conservative gentleman! ;)

You may think me less of a Conservative for saying so but at this point I cannot vote based solely on social issues, I am as pro life as anyone else around here. My main concern is winning in 2008, and I think Guiliani can win.

I've not made any predictions! I have consistently said that no one knows what is going to happen. You, however, are making predictions left and right. I wanted you to make a serious one. But you know you don't really have a clue don't you :-)

Show a post, EV. And while you're at it - why don't you show the figures of how much Alan - the street preacher- Keyes has rasied for pro-life groups :-)

The name calling was from Phi Kap Mom when she disparaged pro-life groups.

My main concern is winning in 2008, and I think Guiliani can win.

I disagree - Rudy is too far left, IMO, to hold the party together, but I can respect your opinion given that you did not tear down core right-wing values to reach it. Only time will tell who is right.

So then why do you ask me about hypotheticals? Especially ones long before anyone casts a vote?

I call into question the ACLU also so what does that make me? I call into question a lot of groups that take in donations and don't account for them. I have this strange notion that any group should make their books an open record. Silly of me to think that but when you ask for money from me, I want to know how it is spent and where the money is given. If I don't get that accounting, I don't donate and the cries in my snail mail for more money go in File 13 including pro-life and a whole host of others. I should have saved the last one from pro-life to quote as they asked for money to lobby so the President will get Roe V. Wade overturned. Excuse me -- he has no authority to change any ruling by the SCOTUS.

I have this quirk when I get sent a snail mail asking for my donation, I write back and ask for an accounting for the last two years of how much came in and how much was spent and when I don't hear back, File 13 it is! You can count the pro-life in that category -- File 13.

Heard back from the local Salvation Army, USO, Food Bank, NPS Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude's, #14 Foundation, and Coats for Kids so they are still on my list of organizations I give to.

That's why I refuse to donate to the United Way -- no accountability.

I am this terrible Republican that donates to various charities and not worthy to be on this conservative website because all of you are the 'pure' Republicans. I will put my donations and time spent volunteering over the years up with you and your group any day of the week. I have worked with underprivileged children that cannot read for years so don't go lecturing me about who I am and what I do. I also think that television evangelist are scams too.

So, you are predicting that Rudy cannot win :-) But you just said how smart you were and that you don't predict!

How much support will Hunter have by summer? Is Hunter going to be the GOP nominee?

That, and Bush's commitment to taking the fight to our Islamist enemies, are the two best things he has done as president.

I wonder when the Rudy boosters will turn on Bush's pro-life stances to pimp their guy.
