Giuliani Notes: Dollars for Rudy (Upcoming Fundraisers for Mayor Rudy Giuliani)
Flapsblog ^ | Jan 27, 2007

January 29, 2007

A Giuliani fund-raiser will be held Jan. 29 in Pacific Palisades, Calif., at the home of Bill Simon, the 2002 Republican candidate for governor of California, costing $2,300 a person and $4,600 per couple.

January 30, 2007:

Mary Bono’s campaign is sponsoring a golf event to raise funds for Giuliani’s committee on Tuesday, at the Rancho Mirage home and golf course of Edra Blixseth, Porcupine Creek Golf Club. Information: (310) 500-4284 or by e-mail at events@marybono.com

February 1, 2007:

Texas Republican contributors are being solicited to spend $30,000 for dinner with former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Feb. 1 to finance his “presidential exploratory committee.” The “private” dinner will follow a 6:30 to 8 p.m. cocktail reception, costing $2,100 a person and $4,200 for couples.

The best-known host of Giuliani’s Houston event is billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr., chairman of the private equity firm BP Capital Management. Also on Giuliani’s Texas fund-raising team are Tom Hicks, whose company owns the Texas Rangers baseball team; oil industry executive Jim Lee; and lawyer Patrick C. Oxford.

No, maybe you don't understand :-)

I mean did you know that Rudy is NOT a social conservative? He is NOT one. Do you get it? :-)

FWIW, I do think the serial spamming and trashing are a waste of bandwidth and really only serve to inflame.

As opposed to the Rudy boosters ripping Reagan's legacy?

Or belittling pro-life groups as not wanting Roe v. Wade overturned, lest the donations stop?

Or claiming that those opposed to Rudy are against the military?

I've seen all that. If anything, the Romney supporters are much better. They (and he) at least realize they have to bridge the entire party. The Rudy boosters seen to think they can tell the right wing to go pound sand and that core right-wing values are a hinderance to winning the White House.

And that, quite frankly, is why you see this kind of response. I was not as driven against Rudy until I saw the hammers coming out against Reagan's legacy.

Once again, we are quite aware of that.

Now, do you also realize that social conservatives are a core constituency of the GOP? And that you cannot win the White House without them?

"Rudy has a lot of GOP support. Does that just drive you crazy :

Rudy is also the most polarizing potential candidate within the GOP, and has a huge built-in opposition among social conservatives. Does that just drive YOU crazy?

Some on here are about to mess their drawers over a nominee that hasn't even gotten to the official filing yet. I bet they will be wore out if Rudy does get into the fray. He's by far way ahead of the single digit prospects. Maybe this would help.

Do you ever consider changing your tactics. Or do you get a negative ego hit from losing?

Hatred and fanaticism won't win you many hearts and minds.

>>>>As opposed to the Rudy boosters ripping Reagan's legacy?

Its a small price to pay, if it means raising Rudy`s visability with FReepers/Lurkers. Isn't one of the Rudy-Rooters slogans, "win at all costs". Its insane. Most Republicans are conservative. These attacks on everything conservative, is the antithesis of what FR is all about.

Well the truth is if it does it will take away their time and effort that they need to use to promote their candidates whom all of which need it in order to get out of the single digit range....

I'd be curious which particular candidates those might be and whether they'd be annoyed with spam being posted on threads about that particular candidate.

I realize that we've gone through this before with forum wars involving Pat Buchanan and Alan Keyes. Instead of reasonable discussion, we get flame wars. Months of them.

It gets difficult to glean the reasonable discussion out of the numerous posts from the same cast of characters who descend on any thread to repeat their assertions, often using a cut and paste of the same post they made the previous hundred threads they were on.

Little new information gets exchanged, and what does is hidden in a barrage of spitballs.

I'd like to think FR could do better than this, but it hasn't shown that ability yet.

Do you find that calling people *baby killers* is helping to prevent abortion in this country. What success have you had so far with your hatred?

I dunno, hate isn't anything I do.

Do you feel that calling Rudy a baby killer is a kind thing?

How many babies do you believe he has killed?

Out here in Utah - we call it hatred. But then, we're not all that nuanced out here :-)

Once again, we are quite aware of that.

I don't know. Some of you buddies keep posting it - I just am not sure whether the word has gotten out yet :-) So you, personally, are aware now, then, that Rudy Giuliani - who hasn't even declared yet - you are aware then - that he is NOT a social conservative? :-)

Are you aware also that a lot of social conservatives are supporting him?

Calling those who support killing babies babykillers is, well, factual. Odd that strikes you as hatred.

Not at all. You didn't answer the question. Does it just drive you crazy that Rudy has a lot of GOP support?

I doubt it will be any different than the 99-00 time frame. Flame wars, suspensions, bannings, etc. Most won't even support the eventual nominee of the GOP if'n it isn't their chosen one. This upcoming election is very crucial to keeping the democrats from having control of both the congress and the executive branch. Good debate and honest promotion of each candidate and then strong support for the eventual nominee would be a help to the GOP in keeping the democrats from taking the executive office. But some don't see it that way.

I don't know. Some of you buddies keep posting it -

To remind those who might be fooled by the Rudy boosters - after all, Deroy Murdock tried to make a pro-life case for Rudy that abortions in NYC dropped 15 percent during his tenure, while neglecting to mention that they dropped 29 percent nationwide.

Those little nagging details that the Rudy boosters, for some strange reason, always seem to leave out.
