Bryant Strongest Republican Versus Ford (TN Senate race)
Ed Bryant For Senate ^ | June 22, 2006

Posted on 06/25/2006 3:46:54 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Despite Bob Corker's multi-million dollar ad blitz, a new Wall Street Journal/Zogby poll released today confirms that U.S. Senate candidate Ed Bryant is the strongest candidate to defeat Harold Ford Jr. in November to fill Sen. Bill Frist's seat. Bryant leads Ford 45.7% to 41.4%, while Ford is poised to defeat Corker and Van Hilleary.

"Yesterday, Bob Corker launched a hypocritical and deceitful attack against my campaign because he knows I am the strongest Republican to beat Harold Ford Jr. in November, and this new poll confirms it," stated Bryant, a former federal prosecutor and four-term Congressman. "My campaign has been the only campaign to unite both the social conservatives and economic conservatives in this state who want a real conservative to represent them in the Senate. With it looking likely that control of the Senate will come down to our Senate race, it is critical that we elect the person with the experience, consistent conservative record, and geographical base of support to defeat Harold Ford Jr. in November."

In other hypothetical election match-ups, Hilleary squeaks by Ford 43.2% to 43%. Corker is just one point up over Ford, 42.4% to 41.4%. The poll's margin of error was ᄆ3.7%

Zogby polls are usually trash. I believe he doesn't call people, but uses people who voluntarily subscribe on the internet to answer his questions. And you might question just how representative they are, or he can make them. I believe this is the reason why he often predicts higher numbers for people who are adored by their respective political base. For example, he shows Strickland tied with Blackwell, while Brown is supposedly leading DeWine by a good margin. Most good polls show the opposite.

Ed Bryant is the best candidate in the running (although Van Hilleary is also good). Bryant will give his all to promote Constitutionalist courts, border security, and local sovereignty in local matters. He is deserving of support.

Hopefully, Tennessee Freepers are making his election their top political priority.

I still hope that this particular poll is correct, as Ed Bryant would make an excellent Senator.

By the way, you have a great tagline.

Good to know. Sounds like he knows that border jumpers in Arizona will eventually find their way to Tennessee. It's really sad. I guess the coyotes tell their human merchandise which states to occupy...

No. I actually live in Arizona so it caught my eye and really impressed me that this man would make the trek from Tennessee to Arizona. However, I do have some distant relatives living in Tennessee. Lots of greenery there. My mom and grandma visited several years back and really loved the state...

They're already here even in the smaller towns like Oak Ridge & Morristown. Ed Bryant or Van Hilleary are the two best choices to stop it though. I trust them I do not trust Corker on this or any other matter due to his previous tenure as state finance commissioner for a previous Ultra-RINO governor. If he is the choice I will vote Independent.

Ed Bryant is the best candidate in the running although Van Hilleary is also good and will likely get my primary vote at this point. Bryant will give his all to promote Constitutionalist courts, border security, and local sovereignty in local matters. He is deserving of support. Hopefully, Tennessee Freepers are making his election their top political priority.

The nation would have been better off had Bryant won against Alexander and Hilleary voted in this time but pressure form the White House destroyed that chance. Either one of those two are fine with me. Here is a copy of an e-mail I got from Van Hilleary's campaign when contacting them on immigration and border security. At this point I'm leaning more toward Van Hilleary The e-mail answerd some critical issues for me.

Van is running for the United States Senate because he is fed up with Washington and he is extremely frustrated with the Republican controlled Senate’s inability to control spending, pass immigration reform that does not include amnesty, pass meaningful energy legislation, reform healthcare and make the President’s tax cuts permanent among other things.

Van feels very strongly that we need another conservative Senator in Washington. But just as important he believes we need a Senator who is more than just a reliable conservative vote we need a Senator who will stand up to Republicans and Democrats alike and fight for conservative principles. The fact is we have a Republican majority but not a conservative majority. We need people who will hold the line on spending, fight amnesty for illegal aliens, preserve traditional family values, and secure our borders.

Van has a history of standing up to his own Party’s leadership when he thought they were not being true to conservative principles. He stood up to Don Sundquist when he tried to impose an income tax on Tennesseans, he stood up to the chair of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in Washington when he tried to sneak in a huge tax increase on Americans and he will stand up to whomever he has to regardless of Party in the Senate and fight for the conservative principles he believes in.

Van is 100% opposed to amnesty. Please read Van’s press release below regarding the amnesty bill that recently passed the U.S. Senate. I have also attached a copy of a recent Q&A that appeared in the Tennessean with Van regarding immigration.

If you agree with Van on the important issues facing America he would very much appreciate your prayers, word of mouth support and vote on August 3rd.

CVA, I hope you and I don't end up cancelling out each other's votes in the primary. I'm voting for Bryant, because he is the one who had the seat stolen from him by Lamar! & Co. Hilleary has no business being in this race and jumped into it from out of nowhere, despite the fact that Bryant has been running for it since 2002. Of course, if he does beat Bryant in the primary, he will still get my vote.

Corker will NOT get my vote under ANY circumstances. I strained my self-respect and credibility by endorsing Lamar! in '02 AFTER Bryant, simply because we were one seat down in the Senate, and we needed to take it back from the 'Rats. I'm not going to vote for the man that will make Lamar! the Conservative half of the Senate delegation. Corker is a phony and a fraud. If he gets the nomination, I write in "Ed Bryant" in the general.

LOL we won't cancel each other out. Voting isn't about doing that. Even referring to Lamar as a conservative in any form is pushing it. When he came back home from his trips etc he was involved with some questionable deals most are in the skeleton closet and were local news articles in Knoxville. Among the more notable was a association with Whittle and the Channel One fiasco plus the Whittle Corp Campus in Knoxville that was at least partially tax payer funded and promptly abandoned when Whittle Communications moved out of state right afterward.

Lamar is a big government shill specializing in Education and his support of Taxquist is remembered as well. Ed Bryant does stand the best chance at it but Hilleary is a good man also. I'd like to see both in the senate and if Ed gets it this round Hilleary is a fine replacement for Alexander IMO. Alexanders run for senate was nothing more than a friend of Poppy deal IMO. He got a heads up on Thompson's retirement and was anointed the chose in D.C. before Bryant had a chance to speak. That was part of the Bush election micromanagement program.

My guess is that the coyotes instruct their human cargo to make a dash for the Southern states. I'm so sorry Tennessee is one of the targets. I also can't believe how Georgia is being made into such a dumping ground for illegals and the anti-social behaviors that come with it all. They've mostly cleaned up the effects of, Shermy the Pyro, now the illegals are doing the work Sherman wouldn't do. They expect those folks to tolerate and socialize the bumbs! Some people really gotta a lot a nerve!!!!

Before long, gentlemen, we're going to need a good Republican governor...emphasis on good. Van fits the bill (and it wouldn't hurt him). He might even keep a Ford or a Corker out of the office.

He'd get my support. Sad though isn't it. The current Liberal Dem is managing the state better than Taxquist and is more conservative. He did give the Tenn Care HMO's an ultimatium and they backed down. But I wish he had eneded the program that would have been the best thing any Tennessee governor has done in over 50 years. I'd for for Bredesen before I would Corker if I voted for either. That's hard I guess for some to understand but Bredesen would be the most conservative of the two.

Van Hilleary could really straighten out the state government. In view of what happened in Morristown over the weekend he would be a welcomed change indeed.

Van blew a prime opportunity to take on Pharoah Phil in a rematch. I have to disagree mildly with CVA, I have never been impressed with Bredesen (his record while serving as my Mayor was subpar, the crime rate and the tax rate exploded on his watch), and he is living up to his low standards while as Governor. The ghastly level of 'Rat corruption on his watch has eclipsed that of the darkest days of the McWherter Regime (I mean, for heavens' sake, 1/3rd+ of the 'Rat Senate caucus is either currently under indictment or is under investigation !).

We should all absolutely get behind State Sen. Jim Bryson. I think he may end up being a very pleasant surprise come November, if he runs a smart campaign. We have to remember that this isn't like the dark ages of 16 years ago. Tennessee IS a Republican state now. It's only through deceit and gerrymandering that the 'Rats try to keep an upper hand.

Pardon Me Ray was worse than any governor and Sundquist ranked right behind him. There was corruption in his term too but folks didn't see it that way...Some of Ned Rays old buddies who wrecked Medicaid became officers in Tenn Care HMO's under Taxquist. I don't support Phil but I see him as a step above what Taxquist was thats all. and that's not a compliment to Phil either.
