Allen bringing faith into view - Monday, April 11, 2005
Is public openness about religion a signal of higher aspirations?
By Peter Hardin
WASHINGTON -- "I have been blessed by the Lord," Sen. George Allen told religious broadcaster Pat Robertson on a Christian Broadcasting Network show last week.

"Faith matters first and fore- most to me," the Virginia Republican told the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn, N.Y., in February. He told the club members that as Virginia governor, he had prayed in the Capitol over how to handle a parental-notification bill.

He says with Va. paying its share for education, localities can reduce real estate taxes
By Jeff Schapiro
Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, the presumed Democratic nominee for governor, said yesterday that local governments can't cut property taxes without financial help from the state.

Corin's note: I wish I could post the picture that accompanied this story in the RTD. Kaine's big town meeting by Aunt Fannie. We've got more people on the RTM ping list.

Democrats seeking No. 2 job debate - Sunday, April 10, 2005

Thanks.

I was used to the $100 trigger for declaring because we had that in Delaware. I was a bit shocked at the 6 figure contributions I saw here this morning. Legislative races are limited to $600 and statewide to $1,200 per election cycle in Delaware.

You'll get used to my seemingly dumb questions - 20+ years in Delaware politics is hard to discard after less than 2 years in VA - I'm still learning and ask LOTS of questions.

by Peter Hardin
WASHINGTON -- Although the 2006 elections are far off, officials with the re-election campaign of Sen. George Allen, R-Va., reported yesterday raising about $2,065,000 in the first quarter of this year.

Kilgore touts signature total
He says he doubled amount gathered for Kaine, but finds he has a primary opponent
by Tyler Whitley
Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore won the petitions war yesterday, announcing that he had gathered nearly twice as many signatures as had his likely Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine.

State tax revenue up for first three quarters
GOP calls 14.4 percent rise more proof that last year's tax increases weren't needed

State tax collections are growing faster than a lawn in springtime.
During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, collections rose 14.4 percent above those from the same period a year ago.

"Don Beyer is considering a run for Sen. Allen's seat..."

Bring it on, Donnie-baby!! When I was doing my rehab after I got my Anterior Cruciate Ligament replaced in my knee, I usedta have my daily appointments at the same time Lt. Governor Beyer was there to rehab his back. Well, we shared polite conversation until one day I started arguing with him about politics to the point that he left his rehab before it was done and actually changed his rehab schedule so it wouldn't overlap with mine...LOL!! You shouldda seen him...he was a quivering mass of jello when I finished with the PUNK!! I was relentless to the point of limping behind him as he fled the facility!!

FReegards...MUD
