Allen has raised more than $2 million this year

WASHINGTON -- Although the 2006 elections are far off, officials with the re-election campaign of Sen. George Allen, R-Va., reported yesterday raising about $2,065,000 in the first quarter of this year.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore won the petitions war yesterday, announcing that he had gathered nearly twice as many signatures as had his likely Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine.
State tax revenue up for first three quarters

State tax collections are growing faster than a lawn in springtime.
During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, collections rose 14.4 percent above those from the same period a year ago.
