French President Jacques Chirac is the latest leader to call for the imposition of an international tax to help fight poverty.
Speaking at the United Nations in New York, Chirac praised a report prepared by a French working group that proposed a global tax be levied on arms sales and some financial transactions.
The report contains "technically realistic and economically rational solutions," said Chirac, who joined forces with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to push the anti-poverty agenda.

Okay. I know you arrogant snob will only speak French, but...
(1) Americans already pay taxes--and grow food--to feed the hungry people of the world.
(2) Areas of the world with widespread starvation either refuse free American food, take the food and use it for political purposes, or are too busy killing one another to bother to feed their people.
(3) Neither of the aforementioned problems can be solved by money alone; they require removal of dictators, tyrants, and terrorists, which requires an appropriate diplomatic and an effective military force, both of which you oppose.

And who will administer this global tax policy???
Why, none other than Blaque Jaque Chirac.

Time for a global butt whipping.

The French are just licking their chops on this-- Chirac would give anything to put US tax dollars through his own personal bureaucracy. Try fighting poverty by first supporting democratization, jerk! Of course you all know what John Kerry would do about this... he could propose even more global tax policies!

The report contains "technically realistic and economically rational solutions," This idiot talks as if the 20th century never happened. How anyone can still believe this tripe after a century of failed statist economic central planning efforts is totally amazing.

Chirac is DESPARATE.....now that Saddam is gone and the big money game he played with him and Kofi Annan at the corrupt 'Oil for Food' olympics is all over....it is TIME TO FIND SOME MONEY ELSEWHERE that the UN can SIPHON off to those who like their money, dirty!
Poor Chirac....sugar coated dreams of donors once made wealthy with the oil for food program have died and blown away (that nasty ol US!) but getting ahold of OUR TAX DOLLARS, in a program supposed to stop poverty (you know, like the oil was supposed to get FOOD to starving children), is like a DREAM COME TRUE!
Don't think the US will be falling for this one.

This issue aside, when will we realize that France is now an enemy country to the USA? They go out of their way to stab us in the back whenever they can. We should return the favor....

Chirac is suggesting this to help himself at home. The next French elections are going to be beneficial to the US, and he knows it will be at his expense. George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
