Herman Wants a Seat in Congress, While Cobbeldick Stands For Something
POC: Bruce Cobbeldick,
10th Congressional Candidate
440-808-8926
26509 Russell Rd.
Bay Village, OH 44140
Bay Village, OH - - Bruce Cobbeldick, is the only Family Man the Republicans have running for the 10th Congressional District, and with health coverage being the Number One issue, followed closely by jobs and then high taxes, there just may be an upset on the horizon for incumbent Dennis Kucinich if Cobbeldick can reach the families here and re-ignite the interest of NE Ohio's Middle Class, as Cobbeldick is Pro-Life and a Moderate.
"There are 41 million people uninsured in America. I did not attend St. Ignatius then move on to a pricey college. My roots are from a lower-middle-class family, being son to a commissioned salesman, whereby I put myself through night school to earn my BA degree in management and I am very much in tune with the plight of today's unemployed, underemployed and working poor. I'm not your typical Republican," said Cobbeldick.
"If you look at my ideas about taking America from paying an average of about 40% in taxes to a Flat Tax whereby the rate would be a fair and consistent 19% for everyone, that will save Americans about 21%, and I have based my plans on offering Americans the option of health coverage for an additional 6%, so if I make it to Congress, the Average Joes and Janes of this world, won't get a politician who simply supports present programs already in place, as Herman has done. I have real solutions and real compassion for the people of this nation, and NE Ohio. For a Flat Tax Rate of just 25%, which still saves Americans 15%, and would finally offer some value to the citizenry for their hard earned tax dollars, my vision is to not ignore the uninsured in 2004. And I am the only Republican who is thinking along the lines of what I call true compassionate Conservatism. Look, you can and should balance the budget, fight for smaller and more efficient government, and add value to what is being done for our people here in America," Cobbeldick said. "I have the passion to be earnest about this race."
"As I listen to my opponent, Mr. Herman, he did not offer new ideas. He sat there at a recent endorsement interview for a West Shore newspaper and simply said over and over that he supports current programs that are already in place. How is that showing any vision? How is that being a true leader? We have issues and challenges here. Where's the answers going to come from? One shouldn't look to just parrot what Bush is doing by repeating Bush's programs. That gives the people little reason to have hope that high taxes or problems like families being uninsured will see anything but uninspiring rhetoric or perhaps being tossed some puny bone - but nothing in terms of meaningful change!"

(continued)
Herman has impressed some Republicans by raising more money than Cobbeldick, but according to Cobbeldick, "money just buys yard signs. It's ideas - having the vision and solutions to today's problems this region - that will change people's lives."
According to Cobbeldick, a former Marine Corps Honor Graduate, who also served in the Army Reserves and the National Guard, "Despite being a proud Veteran, the people of NE Ohio are more concerned with bread and butter issues that affect the majority of citizens. I am a huge proponent of Veterans Issues, but I don't have my entire campaign based on my love for George Bush, being Pro-War or supporting the military!"
Ed Herman may have won the Republican Party's endorsement, but he's pinned his political hopes on being a Veteran. The problem is that Cobbeldick, the Number 2 Republican Candidate, has far more military experience and has actually been Chairperson for NE Ohio's Citizens For Soldiers, a fundraiser conducted in 2003, for military families here in the Greater Cleveland area. So, if we're comparing military resumes - or civilian resumes, and experience matters, the votes ought to find their way to Cobbeldick, based on him serving on active duty six times longer than Herman, who is single and 29 years old. Youth is not bad, but experience eclipses mere enthusiasm.
More importantly, Cobbeldick has the kind of substance that eclipses Herman's bid, as Cobbeldick offers meat on the bone with a Foreign Policy that is professional and well thought out, as well as an extensive Domestic Policy, covering some 20 topics, compared to Herman's 3 or 4 issues. One look at the two candidates' websites, and one can see a difference in styles and emphasis. Herman's campaign hinges on himself, mentioning only himself, whereas Cobbeldick has a team of committee people listed, including his future Constituent Director, Michael Pierce, the person Candidate Cobbeldick has already identified to lead his constituent affairs team.
In terms of experience vs. enthusiasm, Cobbeldick believes that is where his campaign's Platform and personal qualifications truly shine. We are knee-deep in deficits, and while our President is doing a great job in improving the security of our nation, according to Cobbeldick, a little common sense where we reduce United Nations spending and do a better job of planning for the needs of the baby-boomers is needed in Washington. Soon, half of America will be senior citizens, and while Jobs and Economic Growth Issues are a top priority, I think we better be proactive about being compassionate towards our own people, the citizens and taxpayers we are supposed to be beholden to. We need a Congressman with plans in place, who has a cogent Foreign Policy. It's simply not good enough to talk about Afghanistan - that was one Theater - one campaign. I'm against tax cuts for just the well-to-do Americans. I'm not your typical Republican. I am for efficiency and balancing the budget, but as a soldier and as a businessman, I think leadership boils down to be able to solve problems - not perpetuate the status quo. I have ambition about changing Americans' lives for the better. I have faith that people will be looking for substance and meat on the bone. Money buys campaign signs, but no one's campaign treasury will help people have better lives. That stems from a statesman with ideas and initiative - not from some campaigner or politico that sells us the same ol, same ol'. March 2nd, the people of Greater Cleveland have a chance to be great again."
