Mr. M better be prepared to inhale a few of those lady bugs when he runs on Saturday (? Sunday?) because they are all over here.

At first I thought it was Ireland, realized it was Scotland, saw mountaineer's picture of Hillary, and broke the seal on a bottle of Jameson's.

There's a moral in there somewhere...I'll figure it out when I sober up.

Just a quick report to the Guild about my dinner with lodwick tonite.

JL is a delightful guy, totally worthy of membership in the Guild. I had dinner with him, his brother, and his nephew. He did not appear to be wearing pearls, but I didn't have mine on either, so we can't hold that against him. No doubt he owns more than one deviled egg plate.

We had a lovely dinner, and the gentlemen were kind enough not to order dessert.

I had a 2 hr drive home, and am settling in to watch the Election Drivil.

Good morning there -

The Heartland Inn has free, fast, internet set-up here in the lobby - heaven!

Four am is too dang early to wake up.

Thanks again for the pleasure of your company last evening -
a very repeatable happening, imo.

Cheers, all. (Meet up with freepers when you get the chance - you won't regret it.)

Welcome back!

Silly left wingers in the news today:
Did Oliver Stone's wet kiss to Fidel Castro spoil the Cuban landscape for other U.S. filmmakers? Producers of a movie about Ernest Hemingway have been denied permission by the State Department to film on the Communist isle, in part, says a source, because of Stone's documentary "Comandante."
"The State Department isn't giving permission for any location shoots in Cuba partly because of how Oliver Stone's documentary about Fidel turned out," according to the source.

Stone spent three days following the Cuban dictator around last year, turning 30 hours of footage into "Comandante," which makes Castro seem warm and cuddly when he talks about his crushes on Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot and other personal topics, while letting Castro get away with pat answers to questions on human rights.

HBO yanked the film in May after having promoted its premiere and have since refused to air it. Stone recently went back to Cuba at HBO's request to ask about the Maximum Leader's crackdown six months ago.

Congratulations to Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson for their fine work on behalf of Gray Davis. They worked wonders - - for the Schwarzenegger campaign! LOL

The magic Clinton touch continues:

Wesley K. Clark's campaign manager resigned on Tuesday, exposing a rift within the retired general's camp just three weeks into his fledgling bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, campaign aides said.

The manager, Donnie Fowler, stepped down a week after Eli Segal, a former aide to President Bill Clinton, arrived at General Clark's headquarters in Little Rock, Ark., to take charge of the campaign. Aides to the general said Mr. Segal's arrival could have been the source of friction with Mr. Fowler. Mr. Segal issued a statement on Tuesday night that praised Mr. Fowler and said, "General Clark and all of us at the campaign are grateful for his efforts." ....

In addition to Mr. Segal, other former aides to Mr. Clinton have emerged in recent weeks as prominent figures within the Clark campaign. They include Ron Klain, a policy adviser; Mark Fabiani, a communications adviser; and Mickey Kantor and Bruce Lindsey, who are also regarded as part of General Clark's inner circle of counselors. NY Times

Meanwhile, it seems Wesley may have been breaking campaign laws, thread here

I don't know how the Dem screwup in California could help Hillary, but if Gen. Wilkes goes down in flames, she may have to step in (for the good of the party, of course).
