Time

Every once in a while I come up with these, and I am like ok God what are you trying to tell me, cause I end up preaching to myself more than anything, here it goes, I hope you get as much out of it as I did.

Time must be given a reference, when it comes to the past
Without it, we cannot look at ourselves in an honest light
Foreword it speeds us toward the final end brutally fast
Backwards it looks as if it were just a blink or a fortnight
Yielding to us lessons to be learned, memories to be treasured.
God grant that we make use of it wisely, not in arguments or petty hate
Grant that we use each moment at its best, as each moment is carefully measured.
Give us the courage to stand up for the needy, the oppressed, and to challenge fate
Give us the moments with our friends and family, the memories that won’t fade
Give us the might to thwart the wicked and the power to stand for what is right
Give us the insight that freedom is not something for which you can trade,
That it’s something that’s earned with blood, sweat, tears, and not without a fight
God give that we use this time to show others what true love is
Grant that we show You inside of us, that people see your wonderful love.
Grant that they see what eternal love is and that with You, nothing can be amiss
We need to take the wasted moments, and wrap them up with care and love
Realize that it cannot be returned, that the gift once spent is forever gone away
Help us to play with our children, hug and kiss our spouses every time
Grant that we use it serving you, and others even as we pray
For our life, like this poem must end, because they both always have a last line
