The Lady who didn’t have it All

By

James Bredin

She could pick any man she wanted more or less,

She had looks, career and was considered a great success,

A DR before her name and an alphabet after,

A scholar who only studied and missed all the laughter.

Lately dated all the losers in this land she said,

Half of them were boring and the other half were dead,

I am constantly being wooed she said with a grin,

But of course at university, no course about men.

Her youth had vanished somewhere somehow through the years,

She wore the latest fashions and drove a car with ten gears,

Mother helping desperately looking for one guy,

Someone handsome, not married, and not about to die.

Two things: Feminist rebel against family and husband in the name of freedom and pride, so these women hit fifty and say: Gee, I forgot to have a baby etc....This is sadness. And it includes not only women, but men who work too hard and neglect family, or who play around and never grow up...

But for some women, they chose not to have a family because they feel it is God's will. I was a missionary, so refused to date seriously, knowing that most of those I dated wanted nothing but a nice home and a good medical practice.

But then when I returned and was setting into the picture of being an elderly single lady, I met my husband and fell in love. Neither of us were looking for marriage...

I figure God rewarded us (remember the song from Sound of Music, I must have done something good? about two people who found love when not really looking for it)...
