My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I... And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight... Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair... bentfeather©

Was it my steel spine
you admired or was
it the soft airy facade
you were smitten with
the cats always liked it
and were more prone
to climb on your lap
maybe they knew I
resented any time
that took you away
from me
you on the other hand
had a genteel manner
a becoming acceptable charm
my steel cold blue eyes
often caused other's eyes
to look away...
they could not hold
the contact with me
and were afraid
of what I don't know
I always knew a liar
just by looking in the eyes

Columbia Crew
Their dream will live
they gave their all
they were tall
Now in halls
lighting the skies they fly
They are looking in
at the edge of time
standing on the rim
seeing the beauty
of the cosmos with
angel eyes...
Standing in the midst
of the mighty
White fleet of heaven's
angelic messengers
Yes they are tall...Yes,
Gone too Soon

*sniff* Your poem for the Columbia crew brought tears to my eyes when you first wrote it and still has the same effect.

Nice. BTW I am one quarter Cherokee. I got briefly involved with the Alabama Cherokee Council, but it was mainly a bunch of too white and too citified to really get much out of it yahoos.
I guess I just continue to be half Irish and one quarter English.
I had a great grand mother on each side of the family who were Cherokee. I was only 5 when the last one passed away. She was blind and I remember that she called me "Little Hawk". When I was in the USAF, an old Cherokee man I met in Oklahoma when I was 20 looked at me and said, "Hello Little Hawk". I said hello back. The next day I called my mom and asked, "Didn't Grannie Perry call me Little Hawk". She said yes. To this day this freaks me out. I looked for the man for 2 days and couldn't find him. My first wife was the only witness and suggested that maybe the old man called all 6' 2" green eyed light brown haired young men Little Hawk.

Honors to you Flurry. What a wonderful story about your heritage. Native Americans are a very noble people.
When my sister was alive many strange events happened in our travels. We had a very special relationship and were very close. When I see the hawk I think of her.
I, too, have some Seneca blood from my dad's mother.
My cousins are very definately Native American, blue black hair, and black eyes.

My family is strange. Mom and my two sisters have dark skin and dark hair and dark eyes. Dad and the four sons have light skin, light hair, and green eyes. DNA is a weird thing.

Beautiful words Dark. Thank You.
To: radu
Hi radu,
It was such a terrible time for everyone when the Columbia was lost. Never will I forget that day.
Thank you for your words, radu.

Welcome.
It popped into my head back when Columbia broke up on re-entry.
It started out on the thought that they were 7 shooting stars.
And evolved from there.
