i thought it was interesting how she chose to rearrange her talk based on what she heard there, and to focus on just the main point. there are so many areas that need focus, but then you lose the ability to make your points to them, if you cover too much.

Tnat makes perfect sense, because there is always someone who thinks you really can drive safely on ice. If they are fined, they might learn that you really can't.

Peggy Noonan made some very good points, but how many of those clerics really heard her, I wonder?

i don't know, she said she didn't get much feedback. sounds like she just needed to get it off her chest and said. it seems to me that, not unlike the Episcopals, they hear only what they want to hear, and even that through their own particular filter. I think the Catholic church's future, in the near term, pretty much hangs on who the put in to replace the ailing JPII...if it is a leftwinger, well then....

Somehow, I just don't think a man who would be turned on by panties being dropped in his plate is my kind of guy....my husband would probably laugh out loud, thereby getting the attention of everyone in the place, which would really spoil my dinner.

Just EWWWWWWWWW! I would be pissed, she would have ruined a perfectly good piece of prime rib! Why would they drop them on the plate, instead of just in his lap. That would be a much more private way to get the message across!

I agree wholeheartedly with that assessment. I am hoping against hope that this future pope will be more conservative and reality centered than the present one. I don't want to see the kind of schism in the Catholic church that has developed in the Episcopal church. Our priest is conservative, and doesn't mind reminding everyone what the bible says about abortion, homosexuality, etc, but there are obviously way too many who sit in the shadows talking about "peace" and not speaking out on these issues.
