That's it. I don't give a flying fig if Texas comes back(its 28-14 right now.) Fire the fickle folding fraud that is Mack Brown.
Once again, he's couldn't prepare his team for the big game. Once again outcoached. Once again overhyped. Once again his team can't run. Once again his defense is shredded. Once again he ignored an offseason opportunity to replace his coaches who have used smoke and mirrors and early high rankings to fool the media into thinking his team would finally be better than what they are. Same ol' sham.
Arkansas first truly exposed the fraud that is Mack Brown back in the Cotton Bowl several years ago. So did Mack learn and prepare his team this time? Nope, instead he frivolously whined and moaned last week about the UA coach 'disrespecting' UT by celebrating after the upset Cotton Bowl win. It is MACK who has disrespected Texas. Grow up, Mack, quit making excuses.
Arkansas has less talent, yet they are whipping UT with a balanced attack. UT's drives depend heavily on penalties, not a balanced offense with a solid running game. If they can't control Arkansas, they have no chance against the best in college football.
Thanks for the good recruiting Mack, you did a good job of bring UT back. But you can't win the big one, and worst of all, you don't mentally prepare your teams. Remember the Big 12 Champ game in Dallas against Colorado, where a stupid jump offsides by Texas on a punt kept alive a CO drive, and cost UT a win and a guaranteed place in the mythical national championship game? Remember a year later, again in Dallas and eeriely similar, UT jumped offsides on an obvious OU 4th down attempt to draw them offsides(AFTER A TIMEOUT! Isn't that what you specifically warn your team not to do?). That stupid mistake(at the end of the 2nd quarter) allowed a touchdown which changed the game momentum and once again saw the Longhorns NC title shot flushed down the toilet. Remember how everyone was talking about a possible Texas Tech upset, yet wide-eyed Mack sure enough fell into the trap and lost, then claimed he had no clue that it might happened. Get behind, and the team panics and folds. It is the coaches' job to prepare their team, and in most big games, UT has failed to be prepared.
Oh, they'll let him play out the season, but no matter what the final score, this game is an embarrassment and confirmation that Mack cannot take this team any further. There will be no national championship this year. Time to begin planning for a quiet but graceful exit.

But bottom line, they won today. Yeah, that's right. We won. And the Pigs beat the Longhorns. Today is a good day!

You can say that again, the only thing better would be for NC State to come out on top..

Hey did any of the OU thugs get arrested for blowing through a stop sign, driving with a suspended license and open container(a few months after being acquitted of a felony charge) this week, like happened last week? I didn't get to read this week's Oklahoma probation report....

A lot of that so far this season, tough to pick a clear favorite to foil on OU vs. Miami championship unless K-State or W. Virginia gets em down the road

Been meaning to ask: Is Saint Mack Brown keeping his thugs safe from harm?
Don't believe we had any stop sign runners this week.

27-7. The annual Red River Choke is on, the 4th in a row under Mack Brown. Primarily the fault of Carl Reese's horrible defense(maybe he's teaching them psychic tackling and that intent is enough, rather than plain 'ole traditional tackling). Yeah, offensive turnovers are a problem, but how many defensive stops have forced an OU punt? Zero.
To: Diddle E. Squat
37-13 at the half, not a single defensive stop. 4 years in a row losing to the Texas Traitors who fled to OU to play. Choked in every big game that would have led to a national championship game appearance(this game will be at least the the 4th time that has happened on Mack's watch, we are already down to 8 undefeateds, a win today would have put UT in a great position to get to the Sugar Bowl.)
Dumb penalties, turnovers, refusal to fire a clearly inept defensive coordinator(remember how everyone but Mack and Carl expected Texas Tech to run all over them last year)
Fire Carl, fire Mack. Plenty of time to search for a replacement.
To: Diddle E. Squat
44-13, not a single OU punt.

I can't take this year after year, something has got to change. They have all the talent in the world, and still can't get it done? Mack is a nice guy and all that, but if he can't win the big ones, he needs to go, NOW!
To: Diddle E. Squat
UT- a 51/2 underdog to OU. Get's beat by 52 !! Ubelievable...Embarassing...etc. How was that possible with all those blue chip recruits? Ask Mack? He doesn't have a clue!!!
To: padfoot_lover
I can't remember... who was the doofus that was the UT coach before mack brown? The one that looked (and acted) like Wesley Clark?

You're referring to John Make-u-sick (Mackovic), the recently fired coach of Arizona. That was a train-wreck waiting to happen.
Make-u-sick could beat OU, Nebraska and A&M but then he'd lose to Rice or Baylor. He was noted here for three things:
1) the sweep run to the short side of the field where the running back usually stepped out of bounds after a minimal gain or loss. Ran that loser of a play at least ten times a game.
2) the "I'm such a genius" cutesy play call. Why bother powering it in on 3rd and Goal from the one yard line when you could run some cutesy tackle eligible pass that was guaranteed to make one team or the other look ridiculous? He was the "anti-smashmouth".
3) the "no-visible-means-of-defense" defense. Anyone who wants to criticize the tackling skills of Texas now should go back and watch the Longhorns of seven or eight years ago. They couldn't tackle to save their lives. They never wrapped up. They tried to either push down their opponents or fall on them. Horrible, horrible defense.
I'm not ready yet to give up on Coach February but he does need better coordinators and maybe get that fat goo of a "strength coach" a different job. At least Brown gets great players (ask the NFL). Now he just needs to find somebody who can coach them.

Thanks, believe it or not I was following them the whole time. The other day I realized I had blocked out his name from my conciousness. I'm watching 'Ashley Wilkes' Clark on TV right now and he really does remind me of Mackovic. I'll never forget that trick play against Nebraska in the first Big 12 Championship game.
I thought Mack Brown would be better, I suppose because he has a southern accent. I don't see how a Texas coach can get whipped by Oklahoma for four years in a row and keep his job. The remark up the thread about Texas wouldn't hire a Republican is frightening. Because having gone there, I could believe it.
