"Ultra-liberal" ladies looking for men on match.com
Match.com ^ | 9/12/03 | Uncledave

Posted on 09/12/2003 11:48:06 AM PDT by Uncledave

I searched match.com (after free registration) for ladies who self-described as "ultra-liberal".

I bring you some clips from choice profiles, user name is heading each one. Get 'em while they're still single!

Enjoy.. -UD

L538 It would not be misguided of me to describe myself as thoughtful, compassionate and creative... Some things I don't love: dogs (most), golf, SUVs, Republicans, suburbia...Although I was raised in CT, I have strong ties to France.

WayLeftGal My ideal match would get my jokes. Would understand the difference between "Muslim" and "terrorist."

pallagio I dont have a damn thing to complain about...I'm an eternal optimist...by the way no george bush fans need apply.

runner174 Chances are, if you are apathetic, drive a SUV, vote republican, are a couch potato, support McDonalds, wear fur, like strip malls, don't like feminists, and/or are codependent, we won't be a good match. This is a start, but [the] truth is what's on paper is NOT important to me.

cj228 I'm tall, smart, passionate and complicated with a bevy of fascinating (guaranteed not to be boring) contradictions...a white chick who likes African music...a working class girl getting a PhD...an academic who loathes the elitist nature of academia...an American drawn to European sensibilities.

amberwaves10 I was quite surprised to find myself working in the investment banking industry for the past 8 years. It was on the Human Resources/Recruiting side which somehow made it all right.

stabuj I have allowed myself to become immersed in my job...I am close to my family. My father died two and a half years ago, suddenly, at the age of 58...Oh yeah, and [I am] funny as hell.

ja71 After three years of working towards a PhD in Judaic Studies, I decided to get out of academia to teach high school English. Now if I could find a school that begins at noon, my life would be perfect. I am drawn to people who...provide a bizarre perspective. No Republicans, please!

JSMD Life is truly beautiful and diverse... I prefer African American men.

Sioux_Zen I love animals (presently share my home with one kitty and I adopted a rescued veal calf last summer).

LPDv2x I am...independent-minded...If you have included the word "Republican" or the phrase "sweet fine lady" in your profile, we may not be a good "match" per se.

violetswerve I am a native New Yorker who just moved back after a 12-year hiatus during which I explored the farthest reaches of the opposite coast and the trenches of the midwest.

This freeper is on Match.com, and can attest to the site's liberal nature. One of the pics I included was taken at a Freep, and it showed American flags, and my sign that was making fun of Michael Moore, George Clooney, and other lefties. The folks at Match cropped out everything from the photo, so that all you saw was my face.

I am too old to date but I do know a number of attractive conservative women in their late thirties. And a crop of religious conservative women in their early twenties.

I don't really care if the woman is conservative really, just as long as she'll accept it. My ex simply would not accept it.

YA-YAs ...YO-YOs,

What a thoroughly interesting display of "interpretal language" barriers. FR should have been granted a government grant on this puppy!

The email trick is that a lot of people don't sign up for the service and can't write you back unless they pay. Match.com has an automatic filter that changes your private email address if you write it down exactly like Suzie@aol.com it will change it to your generic talkmatch email screenname address. So you have to write it like...

"Hey I really liked your profile but just incase you didn't pay to sign up you can contact me at"

S u z i e (at) a o l (dot) c o m
(leave out the spaces)

s
u
z
i
e
(at)
a
o
l
(dot)
c
o
m

I got a lot of emails like this so the guys must know a lot of people don't sign up and just make free profiles. I think once you use the "@" match changes it automatically.

I like the idea behind Singles with Scruples too. The problem is they are so small that they get very little traffic. It is hard to find people unless there is a large pool to chose from. I have spoken with some very nice men I met through them however the problem was that they all lived on the other side of the country. I'm stuck in Oregon for the next few years and am seeking someone within my state or at least Northern Ca. Maybe people on the east coast have better luck with that site than those of us in the northwest. At least that was my experience. I'd like to see Singles with Scruples make a big push to get new members and someday rival Match.com. There are so many of us out there looking for a person with character and reading profiles on some of the big sites is very discouraging. Most of those guys can't think their way out of a paper bag.

My biggest complaint as a woman concerning most of the singles site is that the majority of men write pathetic profiles. If I read one more " I love candle lite dinner, walking on the beach holding hands and snuggling in front of the fireplace" statements I think I will hack up my stomach lining. That tells you absolutely nothing about who that person is as an individual except for the possible exception that they want to get laid and don't want to come right out and say it.

I live in Oregon and find that most of the men in my area list their interests as "hunting fish, rafting, rock climbing etc" Those are all worthy pursuits but not my cup of tea. I have no problem with someone spending their free time doing that sort of thing. The problem is they usually want me to go along. I'm a home and hearth sort of gal and have done more than my share of forced communing with nature. If there is some sort of Zen experience with nature I was supposed to have I missed it. Sitting in a duck blind freezing my fanny off just isn't fun. When I was a kid we did a lot of camping ,hunting and fishing and the only thing I learned from the whole experience was a) I don't like it and b) how to pee in the bushes without hitting my feet ( always an issue for women and a useful skill to have) I'm in agreement with P.J. O'Roark "If the outdoors was so great God would have put it indoors" Trying looking on these sites and finding a man who actually likes to read. They seem to be a rare as hen's teeth. Why are these men so dependent that they can't go out and hunt and kill things without dragging a bored unwilling partner along? Wouldn't it be much more fun to have a partner that encouraged you to enthusiastically pursue your pass times with your friends and was at home waiting to cook out what you brought back. It would appear not. Having a partner I can actually have a good conversation with is much more important than having them enjoy everything I enjoy and vice versa A man that can think and act independently and has opinions of his own is very sexy in my book. How they appear physically is meaningless I am much or interested in how they think.

If they're liberal women they're liable to have everything under the sun. Best not touched.

A good way to find out if your could-be-Mrs. would like your dog is to take her to a mall that has a pet store and make sure to walk past it at least twice. If she has no interest in going in and looking at the cute little puppies she isnt the one for you.

I dont dislike dogs, just prefer cats. But, not too terribly much, will definately throw the cat at the dog so they will both leave us alone during sex.

Here all these people are saying, "No Republicans, please." Actually, Ive seen that in a lot of personal ads, but I live a political town.

But my questions is, has anyone ever seen a personal ad saying, "No Democrats, please"?

I don't mean something like, "...seeks intelligent..." "...for a meaningful relationship..." "Not just a one night stand."

It actually must come straight out and say, "No Democrats."

Is it because Republicans are more secure in their values, more open-minded, confident that they can win someone to their side?
