In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
deride \de*ride\, verb:
deriding, derides, derided; transitive verb
derider; derision noun
deridingly; adverb
1. To speak of or treat with contemptuous mirth.
2. To laugh at with contempt; to laugh to scorn; to turn to ridicule or make sport of; to mock; to scoff at.
3. Contemptuous or jeering laughter; ridicule.
4. A state of being derided.
It is in the nature of tyranny to deride the will of the people as the voice of the mob, and to denounce the cry for freedom as the roar of anarchy.
--William Safire, "The Counter-Revolution," New York Times, May 22, 1989

Well they were right about the Beatles. I liked them and still do and I am no longer a youth.

I'm no TSSYF, but here is my homework with several anagrams for today's word:
The democrats' derision of the Constitution has been on full display for years, but is exemplified by their use of filibusters to block qualified judges who would easily be confirmed, and by their fleeing Texas to avoid fulfilling their legislative responsibilities. The democrats gleefully exclaim "The ride is on!" as they hijack the judicial confirmation process in Washington and the legislative task of redistricting in Austin.
Does anyone else feel an unprecedented level of hateful partisan democrat bile has risen? I do! The Texas GOP senators at least appear to have a few testicles among them and may yet force the democrats' hand on the issue of redistricting, but the pubs in the U.S. Senate obviously were immasculated long ago.
Is there any excuse for letting Miguel Estrada's nomination die? No, sir! Senator Frist might weakly ask "What else should have I done sir?" I would answer that daily cloture votes, the nuclear option, or anything to force the nomination to the forefront on a daily basis would have been better than rolling over before the swine like Kennedy, Schumer, and hillary. It appears that if anything is done right by this Senate it is purely an accident.

Could either be a raspberry sound done by mouth, or a much ruder noise erupting from a bee-hind. These whiners kill me...I can just see them staring transfixed at the TV when this stuff is on, the acting like a pack of church ladies complaining about. They don't get that it is all for show just to get them watching and keep them talking.
