In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
opacity \O*pac"i*ty\, noun:
opacities; noun, plural
opacitly; adverb
1. The quality or state of being opaque.
2. Something opaque.
3. Obscurity; impenetrability.
4. Dullness of mind.
The opacity of the logic of Runaway Dems has truly baffled me, don't they realize they are acting more like children than the adults they purport to be?
--RikaStrom, WFTD Teacher
Etymology: [French opacité, from Old French, from Latin op cit s, from op cus, dark.]

No astroturf, just a sprayed bed liner to protect the bed of the truck, because we do use it as a pickup truck. No orthopaedic mattress, either. It is a muscle car rather than a lowrider, ala drag racing, which we used to do until it got to be a too-expensive hobby. It has a small lift kit on the back, wide, low profile tires, and the fanciest thing about the paint job is racing stripes on the hood. In fact, xs, it is in one of the pictures of the house I sent you, parked right next to my 300zx. I couldn't resist waxing a fellow in a Mustang at the last light in the city limits on the way back from the city who kept gunning his engine at me. This is the third time I have done that in the El Camino, and at that same light. I have always loved the head rush that comes with letting your foot off the brake at max acceleration when the light changes, and the way that engine roars when both carbureators kick in. But I hate the sick feeling of watching the gas gauge move when I do that, too, sucking up the octane... That is one reason that car isn't driven often. Racing is my and hubby's favorite vice-it is almost as good as sex (but only "almost").

what is gator and how did i install it? the geek just called and is en route now. we will have to miss puppy K tonight, looks like. i just need to have this taken care of. you can just be typing away on WordPerfect, not even logged onto the internet and all of a sudden popups will come out of nowhere. it is aggravating beyond belief. i have to work from home tomorrow, so i want this cleared up.

Look at the bottom right of your screen where the time is and seeif you see a little alligator icon. If it's there, gator installed itself. It's easy to accidently click OK to install it while closing popup windows from sites you visit because it looks sortof like a windows message asking for your "ok" to close it. You have to hit cancel instead of OK to prevent it from installing.

I had that pop up thing happen on the computer before this one with windows 98/2000, and a friend of mine who is a geek fixed it. There was literally an epidemic of pop-up's. He didn't tell me what it was, though. I haven't had anything like it since I got this machine and Windows xp. Please let me know what it is when you find out, I'm curious.

Well the original poster said "it's too bad we're not fighting this war to win" and several of us called him out on that comment pretty forcefully. A couple of others criticized us for being mean to him, but one of them recognized that we were really for the most part merely challenging him to back up what he said with how he thinks we're pursuing the war in the wrong way. Some of the posts got a bit testy.

The Gators need to BEAT MIAMI!! I SAID "BEAT MIAMI!!"
Howard leaves me a message last night saying the Gators are a croc. I'm sure this joke is decades old, all of his jokes are.

I pinged Whyisa to this. She, of course, turned it into an argument about who has the better boobs. She said I do, I said she's nuts, she must have better ones than I. I think she should send me a picture of hers so I, an aficionado of these things, can decide this in a fair and balanced manner.
