The Guild 9-3-2003 Chilly Hilly
SeattlePI ^ | 9-3-2003 | Cecelia Goodnow

Insiders say a certain social hypothermia has developed between supermodel Christie Brinkley and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. (They deny it and proclaim deep mutual affection.) The scoop is that a year ago, Clinton agreed to speak at a benefit for Brinkley's charity, the Star

Foundation, with the understanding a Hillary fund-raiser would precede the event -- but no fund-raiser took place. Although Clinton came, Brinkley reportedly felt she left too early. Now Brinkley and her husband, Peter Cook, have declined an invitation to join the board of an unrelated Clinton fund-raiser -- an act seen as a slap in the face. "They'll never be asked again," one insider fumed.

Hilly is chilly because she was stiffed out of campaign cash? Nahhhhhh, couldn't be!

Here I thought this morning's big news was:

U.S. to Go Back to the U.N.

But now I pull up the Washington Post and see:

France, Germany Balk at new U.N. Resolution

That didn't take long. Another "Bush failure" to bring along "our allies". Sigh.

Jay Nordlinger (NRO) points out the new racist low to which the left has descended. See THIS cartoon of Clarence Thomas...if you can stomach pure racist patronization.

Is this true? (another gem from Jay Nordlinger)

***
"Two neighboring small towns in Iowa are named Manly and Fertile.

So the local headline for many engagements/marriages is often
"Manly Man Marries Fertile Woman"

Darn, it's so difficult to keep track of when racism is acceptable! Oh yes, it's whenever it's directed at a conservative, regardless of the color of his skin.

I'm not saying the other side's crazy for liking Arnold. HLL- I don't know McClintock's history any better than Arnold's. You have a right to support whomever. I just get a bad feeling about him. I think it's pretty tough to expect McClintock to have achieved a lot in the California senate given the state's general distaste for conservatives. He hasn't been in a position to affect real change. As Governor, he could do that, particularly with the fiscal mandate that will come with this election. Anyway, to each his own.

Timeout, of course you're right about the possibility that McClintock support may mean that Cruz wins. That is a dilemma and was my main reason for being excited at first about Arnold's entry into the race. I just have been totally unimpressed with him so far.

I hope you guys are right about Arnold and his advisors. The next debate should prove very interesting.

I just returned from visiting someone in the hospital.

Her husband was reading USA Today. Did you know Kerry's tearful photo-op is on the FRONT PAGE?!!!!

He's toast.

Have you read Best of the Web yet?!!

THIS group, CounterConvention.com, is planning a protest convention at next year's Republican gathering in NYC. The idiots put up a website where groups could put up their organization's name for participation...and it's being spammed...hysterically!

If you go to the bottom first you will see the start of the list where the "legitimate" groups (Not In Our Name, NY Labor Against War, etc.) signed up. Then the word evidently spread, because towards the top you start to see things like:

Popular Front for the Liberation of All of Us from John Kerry
Oh, by the way, I served in Vietnam. Oh, by the way....

Weenie Dogs for Justice and maybe some kibbles, too...
Daks.... Dauksu..... Dackshu... Weenie dogs united for justice and dinner

LOL!

I saw the French-looking, reputed Vietnam veteran John Kerry referred to as "Jean F. Chierry" on another thread and almost spewed my Diet Coke.

Kerry goes on the offensive - against George W. Bush and Howard Dean.

The attacks on Dean also came just before Kerry's first campaign ads. The inaugural buy is in Iowa, with two commercials that began airing in six television markets. Kerry is expected to begin advertising as early as today in New Hampshire with images captured at last night's rally.

"Three million jobs lost, too many of them in the heartland," Kerry said in one of the commercials. "That is an astonishing failure. If I am president, I will roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy so we can invest in education, health care, and the skills of our workers." Boston GLOB
