AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 951) [Davis Death Watch - 39 Days to Go!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | August 29, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 08/29/2003 4:20:41 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Remember the Trade Center!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

North Korea, in the six-way talks to discuss the dismantling of its nuclear weapons program, announced it has a nuclear weapon and will test it. [Ed. Note: The United States should announce in return that it has a nuclear weapon and intends to "test" it.]

In the left's continuing attempt to disarm Israel, the International Atomic Energy Agency announced it will look into "Israeli Nuclear Capabilities and Threats".

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Granny, that'll be 23 cents for copyright enfringement on my tagline.

Stirring the Pot seemed to be the nicest way to say what I REALLY wanted to say.

I will pay up when gc6 gets his pothole fixed.

I mentioned this yesterday but it was late ....... there is a tropical storm out in the Atlantic. His name is Fabian and his winds are up to 60 mph now. Though he is still days away from any land, his projected path for the next few days makes me kinda nervous. Hopefully he will be just a "fish storm" but definitely bears watching.

We have had firewall protection on my computers from the gitgo ..... aren't firewalls supposed to stop trojan viruses (virii?) .... or can some get through anyway? I know that I get alerts saying that such things have been stopped .... and sometimes I find a site that does a check on the computer and they always say that it's invisible to outsiders. Have I been too ignorant and gullible?

Also, my Norton's AV does a full system scan daily and has never found anything residing on the computer.

Hope you enjoy the weekend with your granddaughter ..... :-)

Keeping Daryl and family in my prayers!

N.E. Ohio FRiends & other Buckeyes......I just posted a note on the Ohio page about the President's visit to Richfield.

The woman at headquarters was helpful...the details had just been worked out, but it's not open to the public...

Go to the state's page for further details about a rally.

I'm thinking about it....

We are watching this storm with interest believe me. The other one we are watching is the one out by Cuba, gets into the Gulf and who knows, sure hope we get a northerner blowing so it can blow it away from us. I hate it when we get into this time of year, the storms start up big time and we have been lucky here on the Mississippi ocast. The Casinos get nervous sure nuff, all of tben are sitting on barges on the gulf of Mexico and they say they can take the storms, have in the past but not the mean ones we get every once in while. If one is coming they stay open to the last minute, don't won't to miss that buck you know. The last one we had here I lost 18 trees out of my yard, still got a couple of stumps and still have lots of trees. One thing about it, after one of these storms you can get all the firewood you want, all kind of trees, pecan, maple, ceder, you name it.

If you ever get to chance to talk to anyone in your state government, give them my thanks (and from many more Mississippians I am sure) for the wonderful monument Iowa placed in the Vicksburg Civil War Park (Vicksburg, MS).
I think it is second only to Ill, a BIG dome with all the troops who lost their life in the battle. We plan to go back for another visit as a field trip for my GD. If you and anyone else get the chance, visit that park, chucked full of history which every child should see, even the child that is left in us alder folks.

Good morning Toby!

CB, just found your post about McPhee....My father grew up in N.O. He remembered the flood in '29, I think it was...standing on the levee with his father...so the essay you mention about the Mississippi R. interests me, too. Thanks!

So glad you could recommend some of his other books, too.

Utah Girl, if you go to Amazon.com and do a search, you'll come up with a complete list, plus comments...

Chirac is a demagog who is using anti-americanism as a political crutch. Think "Tony Blair."

Mr. M, I didn't hear Rush yesterday, but I agree that France suffers from severe jealousy and bitterness, but I think it is political France and not the French, generally. Think of it like "blue" versus "red" America, and we know which one is truly representative of American thought and feeling.

The French people generally like Americans, and they generally adore American culture. The youth are particularly hip on what America means, and I'm not just talking about music and movies. Freedom is a concept kids understand, and they appreciate America for it, especially as opposed to the cultish Franco-centricity of French universities and politics that accept no dissent. There's a whole sub-culture of street French (language) that defies the Academy. It starts with pronunciation of the word "oui" ("wee") as "waay," and goes from there.

With Chirac, it's politics, and very ugly politics. Chirac will last only as long as he can play the U.S. as bogeyman.

While keeping up with football this year, keep notice of Eli Manning, QB from Ole Miss, Peytons Manning's brother, he is going to be a big one this year, suppose to be better than Peyton. Course I will keep you ALL abreast of his success. Bert Farve? Look out, he just might be the one taking his place, its his last year you know and they will be looking for a GOOD QB.

I always enjoy your thoughts on the Civil War, especially Vicksburg. You've elevated Vicksburg to a "must visit" for us.

As you drive around the park and every bit of it can be seen by automobile, you see folks painting, sitting under a tree writting, folks taking picures (pros) and can talk to folks from all over the world. The motel rooms in the area are reasonable, food is good, no--excellent and af afforadable prices, some with the ole 'lazy susan' tables fille with the different southern foods. The old Vicksburg courthouse is a must, you realy step back in time, including a 1860's courtroom, Ummm, if you want to leave some of your money to our state there are severl casinos located on the Mississippe river there. Now, so much from the Chamber of Commerce of Mississippe (me, huh?). Its a trip to take if you really want to step back in time.
