Happy "Second" Birthday (to Me) and an Announcement
self ^ | August 19, 2003 | Joe Vitale

Posted on 08/19/2003 8:51:04 AM PDT by MrConfettiMan

Today is an exciting one for me, so I just thought I'd toot my own horn for a minute and let everyone know today is my second birthday. Two years ago this morning I woke up with limbs a'twitchin' and within five hours was informed I had a brain tumor. *shudder* The event pretty much set my life clock back to zero, which is why I refer to the day as my “second” birthday. At the time, I never thought I'd live two years but here I am still living, breathing and enjoying life. Isn't it great to be alive? (That's rhetorical, as I simply assume the answer is yes. :)

To those of you who didn't know this about me, feel free to browse the original prayer thread (Prayers Requested for MrConfettiMan and His Family) and/or visit the source URL noted above where I've been keeping an online log of my journey since it began. I'd like to thank FReepers for all their prayers and good thoughts during the past two years on behalf of my family and me. You have no idea how much they've meant to me.

I don't care to spend too much time boring you with a medical update but suffice it to say by the grace of God my MRIs continue to be stable. My next MRI is in October and if that one remains like all the rest the brain tumor experts at Duke will recommend I extend my MRI schedule from every four months to every six months (the majority of BT survivors never go beyond six months between MRIs and I don't intend to either). Unfortunately, my seizures (slight finger twitches and numbness in my foot) continue to occur every week and a half to two weeks so I don't allow myself to get behind the wheel of a vehicle (it's been well over a year since I've driven - *sigh*).

The Announcement
I'm very happy and excited to announce that I'm going to be a first-time daddy come November! MrsConfettiMan is five months pregnant. Her due date is November 12th (one day before her birthday). Another freeper is on the way!

Good to hear from you my friend.

Since last we spoke, my daughter was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, but one which required surgery.

Dr. Ben Carson handled the knife.

She's been fine ever since.

Watching your progress with interest.

Best, Dan

Thanks for such an inspirational story. I'm sending to my aunt who has cancer.

Praise for your baby, now do just as Mrs. Confetti says - bring her pickles, ice cream, and chinese food whenever she needs.

All the best!

OMIGOSH! Congratulations!! Crying tears of joy for both of you :-)

Not that you haven't had a life changing event before (grin), but I've seen the way a child can transform a man. It is awesome to behold :-)

You are a blessed man, MCM!

A child is a wonderous gift. Our thoughts are with you and you remind us that our daily challenges are small.

A heartfelt thank you to all who've offered kind thoughts and prayers to me, my wife and our baby. After Little Peanut arrives, I'll be sure to post a thread announcing the latest freeper complete with pictures.

MissAmericanPie, we don't know if it's a boy or a girl because we want to be surprised when the baby is born. Actually, my wife did want to know at first but I insisted on leaving it as a surprise but since then she's come around to my way of thinking. :) While we don't have any specific names picked out yet, I've been given carte blanche of the middle name if the baby ends up being a girl. If it's a girl, I'd like the middle name to be Hope, Faith or Grace since this child definitely represents that to my wife and me. Joe (MCM)

Does Spiritual Marketing mean anything to you?

Hmmm, the name of a book seems too easy so I'd have to say it has something to do with spreading the word of God or religion through acts of kindness, praying for others... This is just a guess on my part, therefore to be truthful Spiritual Marketing doesn't mean anything to me directly.
