SURVIVOR 7: PEARL ISLAND
14 Aug, 2003 | Cuz_it_aint_their_money

ARRRGGGHHHHHHH!
AVAST Me Mateys!
Shiver me timbers & Blow Me Down!
All hands on deck!
Heave to & strike the mainsail!
This here's Captain Cuz bringing you scurvy scallywags the latest in Survivor news!
ARRRGGGHHHHHHHH!

Well ping-ees, it’s that time again!
Mark Burnett Productions has once again permitted 16 media whores to ply their trade just to bring us a few hours of blissful enjoyment. So without further ado, here is what your intrepid Captain Cuz has come up with so far.

During the final show of Survivor 6: The Amazon, Jeff Probst provided the following voice over for the first Survivor 7: Pearl Island Promo:

This Fall, 16 new Survivors journey off the coast of Panama, to a land steeped in a bloody history of piracy.

A hidden chain of more than a hundred tropical islands, located in the blue-green waters of Central America. These are the PEARL ISLANDS. It is a place of ancient riches, with a turbulent history of looting and plundering. The ruins of Spanish forts and sunken ships are monuments to a violent and infamous past, where the deeds of pirates like Drake and Morgan are legendary.

In these Panamanian waters lurk some of the most exotic and dangerous marine animals anywhere in the Pacific Ocean. Schools of sharks, sting rays, dolphins and sea turtles thrive in a spectacular world beneath the sea.

And our Survivors will begin their adventure during the migration of the humpback whale. For the first time, each tribe will have its own island and the marooning will be unlike anything experienced by the previous Survivors.

Who will outwit, outplay and outlast all the others to become the sole Survivor? Find out this Fall as the adventure continues in the Pearl Islands.

Well, you just knew that with all the Survivor Junkies out there in Webland, it wouldn’t be long before someone came up with some pictures about the Pearl Islands, and here are a few I have selected from the many out there in cyberspace: Photos courtesy of claycritters.com

Here is a brief “History of the Pearl Islands” – (an excerpt from SurvivorFever.net)
These islands have a long history as they were the first islands to be explored by Spanish Conquistadors. In fact the most famous conquistador and the person who gave the Pacific Ocean its name, Balboa, lived on these islands after having crossed the Panamanian Isthmus. He chose the islands because the weather was cooler and the mosquitoes non-existent.

After Balboa left, the islands were a center for pearl divers and the greatest of pearls, La Peregrina was found off their shores.

La Peregrina was given to Queen Mary Tudor by Philip the II of Spain in 1554; later the pearl ended up in the hands of Napoleon the III and today Elizabeth Taylor has the pearl in her possession. Richard Burton gave it to her as a Valentine's Day gift in 1969. Who knows maybe there are more such pearls to be found? In the 20th century the Pearl islands, especially Contadora were developed into vacation spots for Latin Americans and Europeans.

.

Well intrepid ping-ees, that’s just about all Captain Cuz has for now.
The show will debut Thursday, September 18th, 2003 at 8 PM EDT.
And hopefully, the official Survivor Website will list the contestants sometime next week.
If so, I’ll be back next Thursday with the bios of the players.

Until then, feel free to post your own spoilers!
And remember, don’t take any wooden doubloons! Har Har Har!

P.S. Remember to Freepmail me if you want on or off the Survivor Ping List.

Can the jury talk to each other before the reunion show? Are they going to discuss Jon's big lie?

I was hoping they'd cut to the jury! LOL!!!

Yeah, I noticed...

The WHOLE jury was happy with that vote.

I haven't thought about that....so will the final vote be live? Then they should know before they even vote (individually, anyways).

The real funny thing is that Burton likely would have made it to the final four if he had stuck with Rupert. I believe Rupert's final four would have been himself, Christa, Sandra and Burton as jonnycakes wouldn't have been able to resist behaving like himself and trying to sell someone out.

You have to be careful not to be so sharp that you cut yourself.

I think the jury votes before they leave the location. I didn't watch the last two Survivors, but the first ones I watched, the votes were cast prior to the jury leaving, and they were kept sealed until the finale.

I agree - Burton has no one to blame but himself.

Jon must win immunity next week to stay in the game.

I don't think so. If I was one of the girls who would I most want next to me in the final two? I think Jon might get a free ride from here.

If they do vote out Jon, Lil gets the free ride into the final two.

The final 2 will state why they should win the million dollars to the jury, then the jury will either ask them 1 question or make a statement. The jury then votes, Jeff takes the cannister away with the final votes inside, leaves the island, then CBS fakes like he's riding a jet ski all the way to New York (or something like that). The votes will be announced live in NY Sunday. No one knows who has won beforehand.

The jury has always voted immediately after the two finalists are left, while still on the island, and each finalist gives their reasons they should win, and answers the jury's direct questions.

Then Probst drives off with the pot and goes to the location for the final reading of the votes.

As far as Rupert's theft of the other tribe's stuff on the first show, Jon's grandma lie, Sandra's fish spill lie, and other assorted revealings, non of the contestants know anything until they see each show at the same time as the rest of us.

Amazing that Burton would actually rip on Lil when he voted to kick her out.

What chutzpah!

Let's do a "Survivor" for the nine nincompoops running for office by bashing Bush. Put them on an island somewhere and take all the watercraft away.

Good idea. On another thread, they're calling them the Nine Metrosexuals. LOL. But could they survive a month on Manhattan Island without their speechwriters, chaeuffers, secretaries, makeup artists, hairdressers, and secret service escorts?

I think Darrah is going to win this Survivor. I hope she does, as she's played it very cool (she probably learned that from clients on slabs at her mortuary) except when she rises up to win immunity after immunity. Misunderestimate her at your peril, Survivors. Sandra may come in second.

Good episode!
Darrah is looking good to win. I think they will dump John next. It will be fun to see him connive Sunday to make new alliances.
Burton - knew he couldn't be good looking AND smart too.
His FATAL mistake, when he won the reward challenge he should have had the others draw straws to see who would go. He had told too many lies and made too many alliances. I think making it a random pick would've sat better with the women. Picking Jon gave the girls time to plot. If Jon had been left behind he could've watched over things.
Not that I'm not happy with the outcome. Hope that Johnny Buttboy goes next. If the 3 women are left, you know Lil will not win immunity. I predict it will be Darrah and Sandra for the final 2.
Has anyone noticed that has been no icky eating contest with this Survivor?? Given the depleted strength of everyone I think the last challenge will be an endurance one, like standing holding a post until you are the last one, or something like that. In any case, in an endurance contest, Lil and John are out early. Sandra has the will to win that one. See you all on Sunday for the finale!

If Jon is in the final three I believe he will win.

If the girls are stupid enough to keep him instead of keeping the 3 of them for final three then they deserve what they get.

You've done good, last year I called them one by one almost perfectly. This year every time I tried to figure out who would do what, I was wrong, wrong, wrong. But in my defense I don't think in the previous Survivor that the people were as stupid as most of these are.

Jon can't win....nobody likes him. Besides, if Jon wins with this "grandma lie" what's to stop someone on the next Survivor from telling his fellow tribe members "let me win or I'll have your family killed"? But he will be in the final two. I think Lil will desert the other women and side with Jon because she already knows she can go no further than 3rd with the women. I'm not sure who the second person will be at this point because so much depends on who wins immunity. I would like to see Darrah win, but Sandra would be okay too.
