Just a little LOVE SONG...It comes at a time when everyone needs a breather in their complex lives, someone write a song that stirs the deepest emotion, from the recesses of their soul to the twinkle in their eyes.
Ares son of Zeus; god of prophecy, light, poetry, and music, may not have started it, but he at least recorded it, if only in mythology, music is emotion. Songs in general, and LOVE SONGS in particular, have answered our need to express our inner passion, yearning, and desires, into sounds and words.
Poetry, and verse do translate into feelings and conjure up strong desires, lust, and yearnings, but when blended with sound it seems to hit the desired note in all of us..
Share with us, if you would please, your idea of the true love song, and if I assure you I won't tell anyone, tell me how it worked on you.... fingers crossed, eyes squeezed shut, mouth covered... ;)

My favorite is the version by Lenny Andrade. I'll try to find my CD for the title, she performed two versions.
Fun thread.

Now here's a romantic tearjerker song that I still love (this one is really effective, guys!)
Angel Eyes
The Jeff Healey Band
written by J. Hiatt and F. Koller
Girl, you're looking fine tonight,
and every guy has got you in his sights
What you're doing with a clown like me,
is surely one of life's little mysteries
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?
Well, I'm the guy who never learned to dance,
never even got one second glance
Across a crowded room was close enough,
I could look but I could never touch
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?
Don't anyone wake me,
if it's just a dream
'Cause she's the best thing,
that's ever happened to me
All you fellows, you can look all you like,
but this girl, you see, she's leavin' here with me tonight
There's just one more thing that I have to know,
if this is love why does it scare me so?
It must be something only you can see,
'cause girl I feel it when you look at me
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?

Did you know that Sarah never remarried? No, but I'm not surprised.. They say if you have one true love in a lifetime, all else seems meaningless.. I still believe in love... if only it were as easy to find as Truffles... ;)

I still believe in love... There is no such thing as love. It's only a mirage which disappears once you get close to it.

if that is true then there is no such things as jellybeans as every time I get close to them they disappear. (especially the licorice ones)
To: fish hawk
At least you get a chance to touch the jellybeans before they disappear. Love evaporates like vapor once you reach for it.

Secret Garden (from Jerry McGuire)
Bruce Springsteen
She'll let you in her house
If you come knockin' late at night
She'll let you in her mouth if the
Words you say are right
If you pay the price
She'll let you deep inside
But there's a secret garden she hides
She'll let you in her car
To go drivin' round
She'll let you into the parts of herself
That'll bring you down
She'll let you in her heart
If you got a hammer and a vise
But into her secret garden, don't think twice
You've gone a million miles
How far'd you get to that place where
You can't remember and you can't forget
She'll lead you down a path
There'll be tenderness in the air
She'll let you come just far enough
So you know she's really there
She'll look at you and smile
And her eyes will say
She's got a secret garden
Where everything you want
Where everything you need
Will always stay a million miles away.

Doug, I almost cried reading your song to your little girl. I know those words came from deep inside... I have 3 wonderful daughters that I had to walk down the isle.. I can't ever remember feeling so empty as I felt kissing each one of them good-bye.

Daddy's Little Girl...........sigh
I still talk to each of my kids everyday, and still cook for the whole gang at least 2 times a week... My dinner table has grown from 5 wonderful kids, (2 are still teenagers) to 14, including grandkids, sons-in-laws, and one ex-wife (yep, she still comes over for dinner..a really neat lady).... LOLOL
