We are planning a trip to Disney World next summer and we have some concerns about what this event is really like.

They don't announce it to everyone. You don't find out until you're walking around inside the park. They discussed this issue yesterday on FoxNews. O'Rielly was furious that this was going on and that other patrons were not warned before entering the park.

Forget Disney... it's boring and the lines are long.... plus having to explain to my 6,8,10 and 12 year old why two guys are holding hands and "acting silly"... or why two girls that look like guys are doing the same..... well my 12 year old now knows what "homosexual" means.... and that it's a perversion and is mentioned in the bible... my little ones can wait.
go to Busch Garden in Tampa or Sea World, Universal is good and if you are in the area .. Kennedy Space Center is kinda neat.
Just avoid the area if you don't want the occasional spectacle of two people of the same sex "noodling". (barf alert)

If you even half to ask about it, then you probably should go somewhere else for vacation.
Not just that week -- ANY WEEK. There is no reason for normal, decent families to support Disney anymore.

Every day is "Gay Day" at Disney World - a huge majority of the employees there are gay.
If you believe in supporting that "lifestyle", by all means go!

#21...That's exactly why a group of us were standing on the main road protesting.
We knew most families had no idea what they were about to encounter.
Orlando, a few years ago, also allowed rainbow flags ....hundreds of them....to fly during 'gay pride week'...
One irate man climbed a poll and tore one down.......and he was arrested!
If I remember correctly, the city funded it!

We are planning a trip to Disney World next summer and we have some concerns about what this event is really like. Why are you determined to go to an "amusement park" run by a perverted company like Disney? There are plenty of other venues to try, such as any of the 6 Flags parks, Busch Gardens, etc.
They closed Cypress Gardens (sob).
I'll bet poor old Walt has spun in his grave so many times they've had to install ball bearings :)

'You will probably want to plan your trip for a time other than the beginning of June. The "Gay Day" celebration is not just at WDW but in other parts of Orlando too so Universal Studios may not be the answer either.'
I think I would inform the powers that be in FL that not one of my tourist dollars will be spent in a state that would condone such a promotion. Sure, the state can't make 'gay days' illegal, but if enough normal people stayed away I believe the pressure would mount. We have become slaves to political correctness. This is the kind of s--- we end up with. Backbone anyone?

Easy solution: Just don't go during the first week in June of '04. But personally, I wouldn't give them a dime any time of year.

Agreed. We may reconsider this trip altogether.

Gay Day Orlando - Orlando Gay Days 2003 Gay Day at Walt Disney World
Here is what it says on one of the above two web sites.
What IS Orlando Gay Days?
Orlando Floridas GayDays Celebration is not a single event. It is a total gay and lesbian vacation experience. GayDays is comprised of multiple events staged at world famous attractions, gay & lesbian clubs, and unique venues secured for the purpose of creating a gay and lesbian atmosphere at Orlando's greatest theme parks and at multiple parties occurring during this long weekend.
GayDays began in 1990 as "Gay Day" in the Magic Kingdom, a single designated day (always the first Saturday in June) when the LesBiGay community is encouraged to "Wear Red and Be Seen" while visiting the worlds most popular theme park. From its humble beginnings (spearheaded by Doug Swallow, local bartenders, GLBCC, and most specifically the online friends and users of Compu-Who) with 3,000 attendees, this one-day park visit has evolved into a week long, citywide celebration offering round the clock activities including multiple theme park visits, cocktail soirees, concerts, and a host of internationally renowned circuit parties and water park parties. GayDays attracts over 125,000 celebrants from across the nation and around the globe!

Every day is "Gay Day" at Disney World - a huge majority of the employees there are gay. If this is the case, and they are extending medical benefits to an employee base that is high-percentage gay, it might be a good reason to sell Disney stock before the full costs of this become apparent on their bottom line

Absolutely not true.
Families---children-- are there day & night.
You might need to be 18 to get inside some of the places, but I can assure you there is at least one outdoor amphitheater......and plenty of restaurants for families, or anyone.

#30...Have you actually been there?
Plenty of families cut through from the Disney Village to Pleasure Island.
I have seen it teeming with families.
It's a big tourist attraction.....and certainly a lure for teens with the huge Virgin Record Store.
FWIW, I stopped going to Disney....any Disney park....for years.
ONLY last Christmas, did I return with grown children (not young ones)...!!
However, occasionally, through the years, I have gone to Disney Village for shopping, and taken a short cut through Pleasure Island to get to a restaurant or my car.---Day & night.

They don't announce it to everyone. I believe it is posted on a gay activist web-sites. I've discussed this before in another thread. It is usually around the first week of June. I imagine a few other FReepers will have more info then I do. I personally avoid the place during May and June and it is definitely not the time for children.
