Two more rumors bite the dust (Ride home and torn clothing just not true, sources say)
The Vail Daily ^ | 8/4/03 | The Vail Daily

Posted on 08/05/2003 10:20:49 AM PDT by Smogger

Two more reports regarding the Kobe Bryant case circulating among part of the national media were debunked Monday.

Media reports that the 19-year-old woman who Bryant allegedly assaulted received a ride home is not the case, sources said Monday. Reports that her clothing was torn are also untrue, sources also.

Sources told the Daily that the alleged victim managed to get herself home by 11:50 p.m., June 30, after ending the shift at the Lodge at Cordillera at around 11:10 p.m.

They also said that while her clothing was disheveled and showed signs that something had occurred, it wasn't torn or ripped, as some reports indicated.

"Some of the reports made it sound like something out of a bad movie," said one source. "It wasn't like that."

The reports are part of a larger set of rumors and gossip that have been circulating across the country about the case. Among them:

- That the alleged victim was in the room two hours. It was only about 20 minutes.

- When she came down, she was hysterical. She was not. Sources said she was in a stupor and a state of shock.

- A few days before the incident, the alleged victim had accused another hotel worker of sexual harassment, getting him fired. Not true, said the man who was terminated. It was not the alleged victim.

Cameras in court

Eagle County Judge Fred Gannett ruled that not only is Bryant required to appear at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he also ruled Monday that there will be cameras in the courtroom.

Gannett denied a motion by Bryant's attorneys asking Gannett to reconsider an earlier order allowing one video camera and one still camera in the courtroom while Bryant is advised of the charges against him, and also advised of his rights.

About Randy Wyrick; he seems to have an inside track in Eagle; he has even stated on TV that his source is "in the courthouse," which could be anybody.

He has been quick to try to dispell rumors and, so far, everything he's reported has turned out to be true.

Of course, when the trial is moved, he will be out of a source!

I'm "thinking" that you don't have much to add to these thread except specious attacks.

Ah... an ad hoc attack. Those usually appear about now...

I find them flattering. If you read Ann Coulter, you know she considers ad hoc attacks a sign that your debate opponent has nothing of substance to offer and falls back on the only thing left: personal attack.

So, thanks for the acknowledgement.

She claimed she did on her show Saturday night, but Jrabbit said that almost as soon as she was off, Geraldo started changing that part of the story.

And I heard her say she DID talk to him personally.

It certainly doesn't mean it shouldn't be considered at all.

It's for the judge to decide, imho. If the accuser has a mental illness (not yet proven, even if you accept the media reports as true), and the mental illness is one that might impair her ability to testify truthfully and accurately, then the jury should hear about it. If her mental illness (again, if she has one) does not impair her in that way, then the jury should not hear of it, and it should not be considered at all. IMHO, the bare fact that she attempted suicide should not be admitted, unless the suicide attempt is directly connected to the incident on the night of June 30 -- and so far, no one has made any such claim.

Never was good for Kobe because he ruined his marriage with her help and the loss of endorsements will lower his living standard by quite a few pegs.

Excellent point. In the things that really matter, Kobe has already lost.

I think what will come out that will shock the public was Kobe did her in the rump with no condom IMO!

I think she got home, her mother saw what she looked like and that's why mom called the cops the next morning.

Also probably due to the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ they were seeing.
Chance at a lottery sized pay day.

You guys need to give up that "emotional" crap.

BTW, do you think you could manage to "turn around" two suicide attempts on Kobe? I'd like to see you do that.

Liar. Find for me where I said I felt guilty? I ceased posting on that thread because your claims (like the one above) were so ignorant they were pointless to debate. I have never been drunk, so how could I have felt guilty about it?

My my, we rush to personal attacks, don't we? I qualified my statement with "If I remember correctly...". If you don't want to be misquoted, don't bring up old flame wars from months ago. It was stupid and against ediquette on this forum to do so. Regardless you were a non-drinker who drove after drinking and therefore did have a buzz. I consider you a self-righteous hypocrite.

It seems as if Cyn and I are the only ones willing to say Kobe may be guilty.

I am not a Lakers nor a Kobe fan, but I think he might be guilty, or incredibly stupid. What man, sitting on a reputation that is earning him hundreds of millions, would let a woman leave his hotel room bruised and unhappy, NO MATTER WHETHER he raped her or she fell against the lamp?

Think about it. It would have been better all around for him to fall on his knees apologizing to her, and writing out a check for a hundred thou or more, in order to keep her quiet.

Psychologically speaking, the only reason I can come up with as to why he didn't do that is that he is guilty of attacking her. Even if the sex were consensual or initiated by her, he must have whacked her around some. And beating someone during or after a sex act = rape, because no one could ever tell the difference.

Rita is not the only runner in the ratings race, but this time, she was WRONG!

I don't know if she was wrong or not but I'll go out on a limb and say she didn't deliberately lie.

I heard her say she talked to him personally also, I also heard what she said he said...that is that he could not talk about the case....I must have missed the part where she said he was her source for the story, the way I heard it she said he wasn't....

Well, since not only Randy Wyrick but also ESPN reported that there were no torn clothes and that the bellman didn't drive her home, both of which Cosby claimed, I can only assume that either the bellman, through his sources, lied to Rita, or he lied to Wyrick and ESPN, or Rita was wrong.

That covers most of the possibilities I had listed so I mostly agree. I will add the possibility that either Wyrick & ESPN misunderstood what they were being told, or Cosby misunderstood, or that the message got garbled en route from the bell hop to the reporter. This last possibility seems perhaps a little more likely than some of the others, since one thing everyone seems to agree on is that the bell hop has refused to speak directly to any reporter. If you have ever played the game of "Telephone", you will understand how a message can quickly become garbled when repeated through multiple links, even if there is no intention of dishonestly.

You're right. Kobe hasn't a single thing in his past that may or may not be relevant. /trying not to be sarcastic but you keep leaving openings in your logic big enough to drive Mac trucks through

If you put all the 11 blood spots in the Bronco into one big blob, it would fit on a thumbnail. The police took the plumbing apart at OJ's, and found no blood evidence. So where did he wash up? The only thing the prosecution had was (1) the history of assault and (2) evidence "placing him at the crime scene." A lot of people are very ignorant about the weakness of the case. A lot of people on juries are quite ignorant. "At the scene" doesn't mean he did it. OJ's 24-year-old son was convicted of attacking his boss with a knife.

With the mental problems of this woman and her history in the arts, I would NOT trust the woman's word a single inch.

She is not stable enough to have her word cause a parking ticket, much less a career ending felony.

I don't have to post any email addresses. I can call them right here to this very thread. One thing you need to learn about me is that I do NOT ever post anything that I can't prove.

YOOHOO, can you all verify #472 for me? I'm being called a liar and you guys KNOW how much I hate that!

Applied to you, drinking would serve as a good excuse for your utterly inane posts!

I never drink and Freep, that's one thing I won't do. So you don't know what you're talking about with this either.

You must be wrong. According to Howlin, Jrabbit is the ultimate in complete and accurate sources.
