Yahknow... It makes me wonder too, about so many generations that have passed before us, where all we get are the stories and histories that cannot possibly do justice to being there and seeing the greatness of the person as seen by those in the moment.

The stories that Hair has shared with me about ya'll's grandparents have made me think that our ancestors had a lot in common. I remember growing up that Grama made the stories come alive for me about people that had gone on before I was ever born. I've been trying diligently to get some of this down on paper in the last few months while I watched grama wither away. But, it hasn't worked. However, I can
tell the stories and all the nieces and nephews like them. I can pass these people on to my grandkids, when they want to listen. And some of 'em will someday because some of 'em will be like us and care about that sort of thing.
Don't you think?
For how many years were those oral family stories the only touch with the past? And how many of our legends today grew from those?

LOL, I remember this post from shortly after I began posting in the Hobbit Hole. You posted some photos. I said something about the Mrs. and the response was indeed worthy of Gimli's description of Galadrial.
