The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Saw the durndest thing on the way home from visiting the property (besides the latest dough-boy antics)- thought you might chuckle too.

We passed a big tanker truck carrying refrigerated argon. A sticker on the side of the cab read "Fire Extinguisher Inside".

Ok, did a sour cream/cheese/chipotle sauce for chicken. I took roughly equal volumes of sour cream and monterey jack cheese and added cream till it was smoooove. A bit of salt, a squirt of lime, and a couple heaping spoons of chipotle salsa and it was quite drool-worthy. Served it on browned chicken (seasoned with a bit of fajita spices and lime) and refritos. Big salad on the side. Muy bien.

Corin, have you had any success in setting up Moveable Type...and do you have more than one blog in the same account?

Nay fair maiden. I have stalled in the blog department. Got my domain set up, downloaded Nucleus and hit a wall. Then we were getting ready for vacation, etc.

This weekend I need to finish setting up my wife's site for school.

I hope to have wardsmythe.com up and running by September 1.

I have a new installment of the 'tacky-neighbor saga'.

He's putting in a shed. To do this, he and Topeka-man (the other ubertacky guy in the neighborhood) rented a mini front loader to level out the spot. Well, tacky-guy was doing a great job supervising while Topeka-man ran bucket loads of dirt over to a neighbor's property to dump! Big'ol and I watched slackjawed and I'm sure that if we hadn't been on our property at the time, the dirt would have ended up on our lot.

It was quite a production for a shed that doesn't look like it's going to be more than 9-10' on the long side. The hilarious thing is, that he's building it on the low spot on his property. The blasted thing will probably flood. Good thing we're planting evergreens.

Oh, and he tried to mow his lawn the other day. He's let it go trying to let it 'establish' but the seed heads are nearly three feet tall now. The scene reminded me of that Ace Hardware commercial with the guy mowing dirt and kicking up rocks left and right. Tacky-guy was throwing up so many rocks we ran for cover. I'm surprised we don't have any dings on the jeep. When we came back today, exactly half of his lawn has been mowed. The other side is still three feet tall.

OT: how is the renovation coming.

Contractor Lady starts tomorrow. I'm in KC today through Friday and I lose my pet sitter next week: sister's going on vacation. Should I board Her Majesty or transport her here?

But then again, if there were a diesel fire, the Ar would go up and away from the fire, right?

Hmmm...good point.

But if the Ar cooks, and bursts the tank it could be like Red Adair putting out well head fires with dynamite. Massive and forceful expansion of inert gas... could be interesting.
