The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, from the feedback I got from Tom on the Little Debbies, Twinkies and Ding Dongs they rate as more inspiring than anything we know of.

You can miss a lot, and miss nothing, both at the same time!
Come and go as you please! "On any of us, no oath or bond is laid to go further than we will". Well, that's not really true, we have hunted people down that have tried to leave us.

I'm going over on Saturday afternoon for a short visit. We'll see what happensIs there some event coming up to which you could invite him and his sister? If he could spend some time with you, outside their house, it might light a spark of interest.

Yah!! Over a million gallons of JB burning in the warehouse. That's one of those fires that you don't even bother getting close to... just keep everything else wet.

...he is going to be Sirius Black in the third harry potter film!!I know. I was telling Clare that last night. I bet he'll be great in the part! She was trying to remember where she'd seen him before and I reminded her that he was Mr. Zorg in The Fifth Element

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY in saying they contend with LOTR...I am very fussy about which books I read. Over the past few years I have dwlet more in the non-fiction section of literature...so you can imagine how happy I was to pick up obriens books! I have always had an attraction to the sea and sailing ships and all that falderol, but I am too chicken to actually go out and "be in the waters." I like the safety of land, landlubber that I am!
Anyway, I forgot to include a couple of more links. Murph's Place
someone from AICN gave a brief report, although I am tempted to write to AICN to ditch this guy and not use him again, because of his flippant disregard for not keeping up with names and making character judgements without having done his background research. He called Stephen Maturin GAY! short review
But AICN has more to say, and its all good. I am excited!
More good reviews from AICN
I have founded through most of M&C and making my way through Post Captain, although I find myself thumbign through to those parts where Jack and Steven are trying to figure out the games Sophie and Diane are playing with the poor boys. I love that Maturin keeps telling Sophie how to get to Aubrey, but I could really strangle her for being such a wuss for so long!

gees. it's not like it's jack daniels or something. Gasp! Don't even joke about such a thing... :-) Though, you're right about that, now that I think about it.
It was sooo much worse a couple of years ago when the Wild Turkey distillery was hit by a big fire. 17,000 oak barrels of aging whiskey lost.

Then I discovered that my local library has the entire series in unabridged audiobook! That would be a great way to enjoy the Aubrey/Maturin novels. I read and enjoyed "Master and Commander", but just couldn't get into "Desolation Island" before the time ran out and I had to take it back to the library. Maybe I'll pick it back up again in the winter.

Thanks, I just skimmed those links. You know, if M&C is as good as these early reviews suggest, I can see myself being VERY torn as to who should get the Best Picture Oscar. My big concern when FOTR lost to BM was that when ROTK came out, it would hit a "strong movie year" and not win then either. If Seabiscuit and M&C are both in the running, ROTK could have a tough battle. But, I have faith in PJ. Maybe they'll just give Crowe a Best Actor for M&C and finally give LOTR it's due with a Best Pic for ROTK.
To: Ramius
Yeah, some of those oaken barrels would have been wonderful additions to my landscaping!!! I have plants who could live so happily in them.
