Instinct, and common sense.

I would like to first thank Free Republic for the space I am taking.
I am just an average Joe. I love my country, and my President.
I believe in hard work, and treating my fellow human being as I would like to be treated.
I am somewhat concerened about the economic situation our country is now facing.
When I was a young teenager, we all could get a job, if we were willing to work. I worked hard, and was thankful to have the oppurtunity to have a job.
While in college, I felt that I was not going in the right direction, so, I stopped, and started a business. This busineess is very succesful to this day. I am very thankful for what I have achieved.
So what the he-- I am I trying to get at??
Not everyone has the oppurtunity, and the motivation I had.
What I am trying to say.......This country was built on hard work, and innovation. We did not have to compete with SLAVE LABOR. If you do not think 1 dollar per day is slave labor.......then you are a self serving....egotistical......get all you can....while you can...............I'll let you fill in the rest...because you know deep down who, and what you are.
I am going to work my as- off today, tommorow, and when ever I have to. Just don't expect the United States of America to remain strong........when "OUR" politicians have sold us out.......and are still selling us out...so the FEW.......can reap their so called rewards.
I am not a democrat.......or republican. I am a citizen of the United States of America. Don't be blinded by politics.............Open your eyes......and your minds................Before it is too late.

Just don't expect the United States of America to remain strong........when "OUR" politicians have sold us out.......and are still selling us out...so the FEW.......can reap their so called rewards. The politicians have nothing to do with American businesses trying to remain globally competitive.
In a global economy, everyone has to compete, globally. We've proven we can, in the past.
Instead of whining, maybe you ought to be focusing on the unique value you can bring to what you're doing now.

When we were teenagers, if I recall correctly, our parents made us realize the value of working, and not everything from
hundred dollar hand held video games to expensive cars were bought by them.
Jobs are out there and if you are hungry enough you will find them.

A dollar a day is nothing in the US. It might be a good wage in some other country. What's the point?

You're about 45 years too late.

If you do not think 1 dollar per day is slave labor.Although your statement has a populist appeal, it is absolutely meaningless without knowing the economics of the country or region where the $1 per hour is paid such as the type of work for which the $1 per hour is earned; the relative wages in the country or region for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and professional labor; and the cost of living in the country or region. Call me what you want, but your rant proves nothing and advocates even less.

"...we could all get a job, if we were willing to work". I believe you have the answer without realizing it. We used to start at the bottom and work our way to the top. Today, unless some can start at the top, they would rather not work. Many young Americans have a distorted view of their worth in the workforce. They feel "unappreciated and unchellanged" if they don't get the job they THINK they want. After all, that's what their mommies and daddies are telling them. What kind of job is a person with a degree in African-American studies qualified to do? Or, how about a degree in woman's studies? And we used to laugh at a degree in basket weaving!

I've always been impressed with your ability to chant mindless slogans, and goosestep to your marching orders. It's a rare gift to be able to know exactly which mindless slogan to utter when, and you, my friend have that gift.

The funny thing about the "high" unemployment in the US, is that it spurs people out of the "I gotta have a job" mentality, and puts them into the "I'm gonna create my own job" mentality. Take control of your destiny any way you can.

It's a rare gift to be able to know exactly which mindless slogan to utter when, and you, my friend have that gift. And it's comforting to know that I've gotten under your skin enough that you would attempt to lure me back to this thread, especially when you insulted my wife in your last post.
YCKMA.

You brought up your wife, I did not. Have you now joined the ranks of the perpetually offended? Good for you; it suits you.
