Thanks for the info HG. It's interesting to hear actual accounts of 'look for the missing cat' behavior. The only thing is my cat has cancer in his leg. I'm guessing there will be a point where it has spread so far we won't be able to let him suffer anymore in good conscience and I'll have to make the drive to the vets. I don't think he'll kick off at home.
