This year, the producers have introduced the "X-Factor" to Big Brother. 10 of the 13 houseguests were stunned to find out that an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend of theirs was also a houseguest.
I have once again given up any hope of having a life this summer and have shelled out the $10 a month to watch the houseguests 24 hours a day on the internet.
Let's meet this years crop of contestants...
Alison
Job: Retail Manager
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison, while seeming sweet, is definitely this year's "house ditz". Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Recall last season when Lisa, considered far from the smartest houseguest took home the $500,000 prize.
Amanda
Job: Bar Manager
Age: 25
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Amanda and her ex Scott had some turbulent moments when they were first thrust back together. As of earlier today, though, they seem to be getting along quite well. According to chatter on the Internet feeds, expect Amanda to go sooner rather than later.
Dana
Job: Karate School Manager
Age: 28
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Queens, NY
Jeff's Comments: Dana is one of three houseguests without an ex in the game. She has quite the feisty atitude, and I expect her to be involved in manty arguments, leading up to her getting booted around week 5 or so.
David
Job: Former Army Ranger
Age: 21
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Deerfield Beach, FL
Jeff's Comments:David seems like a great guy with a super sense of humor. However, I expect the houseguests to be intimidated by his experince as a Ranger, and to give him the boot mid-game.
Erika
Job: Pilates Instructor
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: This girl might just take it all the way. As seen in episode 2, she is not in the house to "have a good time" or "make new friends", she's in it to win it. From watching the Internet feeds, it seems as if she's already incorporating the "fly below the radar" strategy, that more often than not a good one. Also, she's a dead ringer for last year's winner, Lisa.
Jack
Job: Retired FBI Agent
Age: 58
Marital Status: Divorced
Hometown:Birmingham, AL
Jeff's Comments: Jack seems to be a very nice guy, looking much youger than his 58 years. If he can overcome the age barrier and assimilate with the other houseguests, he'll go far. Unfortunately, around week 9 or so, he will succomb to the Big Brother "middle age man curse" and get booted a la George, Kent, and Gerry in previous seasons.
Jee
Job: Bookkeeper
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Elmhurst, NY
Jeff's Comments: Since entering the house, the most strained ex-couple is definitely Jee and Jun (say it out loud, it's fun). Jee seems to be a down-to-earth fellow who gets along well with all of the houseguests othjer than Jun. If he can survive the first few weeks, he will be a contender to win it all.
Jun
Job: Investment Manager
Age: 27
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:New York, NY
Jeff's Comments: Jun (pronounced June) is this years house chef. That alone will allow her to finish in the top half. Since being reunited, Jun has spent a total of literally less than one minute speaking to her boyfriend of 5 and a half years, Jee.
Justin
Job: Headhunter
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison's ex, Justin has been surprisingly quiet thusfar in the game. I'm going to wait a few days before making a prediction on how he will do.
Michelle
Job: College Student
Age: 19
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Boca Raton, FL
Jeff's Comments: At 19 years old, the beautiful Michelle is the youngest houseguest in Big Brother history. I predict tht she will be out within the first 3 weeks, otherwise, she will be one of the final three, as a result of the other houseguests underestimating her due to her age. On the Internet feeds, she has stated on numerous occasions that she drinks, so it should be interesting to see if she trys to sneak a few as the season goes on, and if so, what Big Brother's reaction to underage drinking in the house will be.
Nathan
Job: Personal Trainer
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Edmond, OK
Jeff's Comments: Nathan is the "stud" of the house this year. Recall Hardy from season 2 and Roddy from season 3. The ladies of the house have already gone ga-ga for him. I'm predicting a week 6-7 eviction for Nathan, as the "stud" never wins any reality show, ever.
Robert
Job: Restaurasnt Manager
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: Robert is another houseguest who I have not had much of a chance to observe on the Internet feeds. The one bit of information I was able to gather about him is that he was an alcoholic, and recovered a few years ago with the help of his father. I have a suspicion that Robert may have a bit of an attitude, but if he can keep it under control, watch for him at the end.
Scott
Job: Waiter
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Get used to the knit cap you see in Scott's head shot, as he has it on constantly. This guy cusses like it's going out of style. As entertaining as he is to watch, I expect Scott to have a fair share of conflicts with the houseguests and get booted early.
Tommorrow, I will provide links to great web sites devoted to Big Brother to help further enhance your viewing pleasure this year. If you would like to get pinged to this thread when it is updated, either let me know ion this thread or FReepmail me. If you know of anyone who might be interested in this thread, please let them know.
I'm not watching the feeds, so the only information I have is the clever editing done by CBS. I believe CBS distorts the reality of the house for the sake of "drama" and ratings.
That is the only reaction I can have to Allison and Dana's hugs and good words to each other after the HOH contest...that they don't "hate" each other as the show would lead us to believe.
I don't know about you, but if someone trashed me as relentlessly as those two trashed each other, said all sorts of nasty things about me... the last thing I would want to do is hug them.
If I were Allison or Dana, when one acted like they were going to hug me, I would have put out the "let's not" vibe...
It will be interesting to see what happens tonight. I think the whole show is fascinating to watch.
She left the three exes intact... that was a huge mistake.
Mostly, Allison nominated Jun and Dana for eviction... the exes are gleeful and the alliance can't believe she did it because it was a huge mistake that will bite the alliance in the butt later on.
Robert won the Power of Veto and elected not to use it. Therefore Jun and Dana are our nominees for eviction tonight. I still think Alison made a horrible move by not nominating one of the core members of the Stooges Alliance (Jee, Robert, or Justin). Then again, this season has been known for the emotional game play that has gone on as opposed to logical, srategic playing.
The houseguest evicted tonight, be it Dana or Jun will become the first to be sequestered for the final jury. The Big Brother rumor mill has been hopping in the last week about what some of the details of this sequestration may be. Most of the houseguests seem to believe that the sequestration site will be on a beach somewhere such as Mexico, and that the evicted houseguests will be living together. However, I have heard rumors that they have built another Big Brother house equipped with cameras and microphones right on the CBS lot in Los Angeles that the main house is located.
It should be very interesting to see if there is indeed a "twist" in the game having to do with the sequestered houseguests like they did with the first four eliminated last year. Enjoy tonight's show!
In the food challenge this morning, the houseguests won all of the food up for grabs plus a bonus of Subway sandwiches for lunch for a week. Later, Justin nominated Jack and Nathan for eviction.
Hopefully, they will get rid of Nathan... but with friends like Erica, (she thinks of Jack as a father, but votes against him) Jack may be in trouble.
And the alliance had better put the pieces together on why Allison wasn't nominated. If they did, they would be able to know that she has a secret alliance with the 3 stooges. (Smart play by Allison, who I hope doesn't win because I don't like her very much)
Jack has been pegged as the "pawn" for this round, though I'm not completely relieved, as we've seen this season that "pawns" are not always completely safe.
but with friends like Erica, (she thinks of Jack as a father, but votes against him)
I personally wouldn't worry about Erika's loyalty to Jack. When she voted against him, I believe that she wanted to give Dave a "sympathy vote" and nothing more.
And the alliance had better put the pieces together on why Allison wasn't nominated. If they did, they would be able to know that she has a secret alliance with the 3 stooges.
There is a lot of speculation now that Alison has been in cahoots with Justin since before they even entered the house. Reportedly, the other night, Justin was chatting with Jee and Robert about auditioning for BB. He said something to the effect that he couldn't afford to fly to California, so somebody lent him the money. Now his voice was a bit muffled, but many people claim that the name he mentioned was Alison.
(Smart play by Allison, who I hope doesn't win because I don't like her very much)
Agree with you 100% there. I think she's paying a good game, but I'd hate to see her win.
Jack is the pawn... then, Jack might be in big in trouble... but I do believe the Nathan will go...
If one of the three stooges win, I won't be sorry (though I want to see Jack win) because those three scrambled to save their bacon and did it. Of course, they didn't do it with the elan of Evil Will, so I will hold that against them. :)
As do I, but remember, he is a force to be reckoned with in competitions. I'll be watching for the results of today's veto competition very closely, as I believe that if Nathan vetos himself, Erika will go on the block. Since Erika and Jack are my two favorite houseguests, I would be quite distressed.
Did you see BB2? This is the one in which Evil Will won. That's what this house is missing... a character like Evil Will.
For the second week in a row, Robert has won the Power of Veto. It is expected that he will not be using it.
A reminder for all of you in the New York metropolitan area, for about the hundredth time this season, the friggin Yankees are delaying tonight's episode. It will air immediately upon conclusion of the game. Have I ever told y'all how much I hate baseball?
Nathan's hangdog expression and cries of betrayal at the hand of Allison do have some truth in it, but Nathan is overlooking an important part. No one forced him to use the veto on Ally. She didn't hold a loaded gun to his head, or threaten his family. She flirted with him and promised him all sorts of things... He believed that she could be trusted and veto'd her. The fact that she is non-responsive to his concerns shows that Ally is self-centered, but also playing the game.
Maybe it's easy to get in amongst these people and forget that this is a game where only 2 people will get money. But, even as they betray one another and lie about one another, they don't expect that others are doing the same to them.
If any in that house told me the sky was blue, I would go outside and look. None can be trusted because only one can win.
Yet, they have selective memories and selective morals.
Justin going on and on about trust. How absurd! Jun betrayed you in regards to Michelle, so did Erica, and so did Allison. But somehow its only Jack's and Nathan's lies that Justin can't stomach.
The three stooges are poor winners. The fact that they rub the others noses in their victories shows their maturity level. How awful would it be to be stuck in a housefull of high-school acting adolescents... Not fun at all.
Of course, we don't see all the happenings... only the parts that CBS allows us to see. So, what we get is very slanted toward story telling, conflict, and tension.
Yet, as I watch, I am utterly amazed at the contradictions of the human condition on display.
