This year, the producers have introduced the "X-Factor" to Big Brother. 10 of the 13 houseguests were stunned to find out that an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend of theirs was also a houseguest.
I have once again given up any hope of having a life this summer and have shelled out the $10 a month to watch the houseguests 24 hours a day on the internet.
Let's meet this years crop of contestants...
Alison
Job: Retail Manager
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison, while seeming sweet, is definitely this year's "house ditz". Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Recall last season when Lisa, considered far from the smartest houseguest took home the $500,000 prize.
Amanda
Job: Bar Manager
Age: 25
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Amanda and her ex Scott had some turbulent moments when they were first thrust back together. As of earlier today, though, they seem to be getting along quite well. According to chatter on the Internet feeds, expect Amanda to go sooner rather than later.
Dana
Job: Karate School Manager
Age: 28
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Queens, NY
Jeff's Comments: Dana is one of three houseguests without an ex in the game. She has quite the feisty atitude, and I expect her to be involved in manty arguments, leading up to her getting booted around week 5 or so.
David
Job: Former Army Ranger
Age: 21
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Deerfield Beach, FL
Jeff's Comments:David seems like a great guy with a super sense of humor. However, I expect the houseguests to be intimidated by his experince as a Ranger, and to give him the boot mid-game.
Erika
Job: Pilates Instructor
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: This girl might just take it all the way. As seen in episode 2, she is not in the house to "have a good time" or "make new friends", she's in it to win it. From watching the Internet feeds, it seems as if she's already incorporating the "fly below the radar" strategy, that more often than not a good one. Also, she's a dead ringer for last year's winner, Lisa.
Jack
Job: Retired FBI Agent
Age: 58
Marital Status: Divorced
Hometown:Birmingham, AL
Jeff's Comments: Jack seems to be a very nice guy, looking much youger than his 58 years. If he can overcome the age barrier and assimilate with the other houseguests, he'll go far. Unfortunately, around week 9 or so, he will succomb to the Big Brother "middle age man curse" and get booted a la George, Kent, and Gerry in previous seasons.
Jee
Job: Bookkeeper
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Elmhurst, NY
Jeff's Comments: Since entering the house, the most strained ex-couple is definitely Jee and Jun (say it out loud, it's fun). Jee seems to be a down-to-earth fellow who gets along well with all of the houseguests othjer than Jun. If he can survive the first few weeks, he will be a contender to win it all.
Jun
Job: Investment Manager
Age: 27
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:New York, NY
Jeff's Comments: Jun (pronounced June) is this years house chef. That alone will allow her to finish in the top half. Since being reunited, Jun has spent a total of literally less than one minute speaking to her boyfriend of 5 and a half years, Jee.
Justin
Job: Headhunter
Age: 22
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Pittsburgh, PA
Jeff's Comments: Alison's ex, Justin has been surprisingly quiet thusfar in the game. I'm going to wait a few days before making a prediction on how he will do.
Michelle
Job: College Student
Age: 19
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Boca Raton, FL
Jeff's Comments: At 19 years old, the beautiful Michelle is the youngest houseguest in Big Brother history. I predict tht she will be out within the first 3 weeks, otherwise, she will be one of the final three, as a result of the other houseguests underestimating her due to her age. On the Internet feeds, she has stated on numerous occasions that she drinks, so it should be interesting to see if she trys to sneak a few as the season goes on, and if so, what Big Brother's reaction to underage drinking in the house will be.
Nathan
Job: Personal Trainer
Age: 23
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Edmond, OK
Jeff's Comments: Nathan is the "stud" of the house this year. Recall Hardy from season 2 and Roddy from season 3. The ladies of the house have already gone ga-ga for him. I'm predicting a week 6-7 eviction for Nathan, as the "stud" never wins any reality show, ever.
Robert
Job: Restaurasnt Manager
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Los Angeles, CA
Jeff's Comments: Robert is another houseguest who I have not had much of a chance to observe on the Internet feeds. The one bit of information I was able to gather about him is that he was an alcoholic, and recovered a few years ago with the help of his father. I have a suspicion that Robert may have a bit of an attitude, but if he can keep it under control, watch for him at the end.
Scott
Job: Waiter
Age: 33
Marital Status: Single
Hometown:Chicago, IL
Jeff's Comments: Get used to the knit cap you see in Scott's head shot, as he has it on constantly. This guy cusses like it's going out of style. As entertaining as he is to watch, I expect Scott to have a fair share of conflicts with the houseguests and get booted early.
Tommorrow, I will provide links to great web sites devoted to Big Brother to help further enhance your viewing pleasure this year. If you would like to get pinged to this thread when it is updated, either let me know ion this thread or FReepmail me. If you know of anyone who might be interested in this thread, please let them know.
The official CBS BB site has a Polls Page which has a variety of different ratings on them. The popularity poll is especilly interesting as you can see how popular a houseguest is with the audience and track how it changes from week to week.
As most of you know by now, the live internet feeds provide you with the knowledge of what happens in the house several days before it is aired on television. For those of you without live feeds, don't fret, there are sites that recap everything that happens live. Two of my favorites are The Bomis TV Clubhouse and Joker's Updates.
Speaking of live feeds, I need a volunteer. I am going to Northern Maine this weekend for the Phish festival and will not have internet access. Is there anyone of you live feeds subscribers who wouldn't mind posting white text spoilers for the veto competition on Friday, the luxury competition (if they hold one) on Saturday, and the veto meeting on Sunday? Let me know and I can FReepmail you the ping list. Many thanks in advance!
Good morning all. Just wanted to point out a few links you might find interesting. The official CBS BB site has a which has a variety of different ratings on them. Take a look at this page. It lists how each houseguest voted in each eviction election. It seems as if there are the same amount of open slots in next weeks column as there are in this weeks column. Hmmmmmm....
There is a lot of speculation that an ex of a remaining houseguest (Jack, Nathan, or Dana) might be joining the game, or that this coming week will not be an eviction week to make up for Scott's unexpected exit a few weeks ago.
Jack, the retired FBI agent and David, the former Army Ranger have been allied together along with Erika since Week 1. Thanks to a combination of Dana and Jun abandoning the "Original 8" alliance and Nathan electing to excersize the Power of Veto to remove Alison from the block, these two friends will occupy the orange chairs this evening.
The Head of Houshold competition tonight is crucial for every houseguest, as the balance of power in the house is on the line. The two "sides" in the house have become clear in the last week. On one side we have Jee, Robert, Justin and Jun. On the other is Alison, Nathan, Erika, and whomever survives the eviction vote tonight. Dana, of course, as Head of Household is not eligible to compete tonight.
In what is seemingly becoming a Tuesday night tradition, sparks of passion flew once again late last night as David and Alison had a heavy "make out" session in her bed. Now this was nothing nearly as hot and heavy as David's escapades with Amanda a few weeks ago, but surprising nonetheless.
I'm still looking for a volunteer to provide spoiler updates this weekend while I am on vacation. If not, it's no big deal and I'll just post a very big update when I get back on Tuesday.
Hope everyone enjoys the live show tonight, and if you don't mind me interjecting some comments of my own, GO ALISON, NATHAN, ERIKA, JACK OR DAVE!!! GET HOH AND SEND THE MANTROLL PACKING!
That's a very good question. Jun is definitely the most "on the fence" player at this point, but she has aligned herself with Dana so much that I feel it will be hard for the Original alliance to trust her again. Dana actually ran all of her HoH decisions by Jun before making them this week and the two have been seemingly unseperable, to the point of sleeping together in the HOH room at night.
However, if there is a revolt against Dana, I feel Jun will go along with the crowd and backstab her.
It's funny you mention Jun because last night my friend and I were trying to make picks of who we think will win it all. My friend picked Justin (a good pick in my opinion) and I picked Jun.
I felt sorry for him when the other house guests laughed at him because of his age. After the spinning, they laughed when he fell, but felt bad later when they found he was hurt.
It just goes to show their immaturity. They act like randy 15 year olds.
What I liked about Jack was how he assessed his performance, realized that he was weak in the physical competitions and was going to address it. He almost won head of household... I wish that he had.
The producers of Big Brother need to address one problem with their show. The only put one older person in with a bunch of adolescents... putting that older person on a one way ticket to eviction... mostly because the younger ones don't really bond with the older player because of the difference in the maturity level.
I don't think Jack will win, but I would like to see him win...
My word, Allison, Dana, and Amber... have a little bit of decency and self-respect.
Who else besides Erica voted for Jack?
I understand that David is the stronger of the two, but he was so fun.
I also cheered when he thanked the troops, and asked America to support them!!! When his last words in the house were a plea to America, I fell in love with the guy, only to have him kicked off. How disappointing.
So, the votes for David were: Jun, Jee, Robert, Justin, and Nathan. The votes for Jack were Allison and Erica.
Hope that helps.
In a heartbeat! Jun is playing for Jun and she's really quite a smart player. She could win. She doesn't make enemies, at least not so far.
Allison's winning HOH is good. She'll put up Dana and Robert, I'll bet. Sayonara Dana!
Alison has nominated Jun and Dana for eviction.
