Any cartoonists here?
Posted on 07/08/2003 12:09:35 PM PDT by thoughtomator
I got a flash of total weirdness this morning and did something completely foreign to me - I drew a cartoon.
It's entitled "When Penumbra ATTACK!!" and it's about the usurpation of power by the Supreme Court.
If there is someone out there who can draw well and sketch out this 4-panel cartoon a bit more professionally, I think it would be a great pro-Constitution piece of commentary/humor to pass around the net.
I can scan my primitive drawing to PDF and email it if I can find someone willing to lend a bit of artistic talent to the cause.
Please let me know if you are interested in helping me with it!

I've turned it into a JPG and got a friend to put it online... as I said it is VERY primitive:

Pretty good! Trouble is, mightn't the Constitution be screaming "You're bringing me to life!"? (Since the left says it should be "a living document". Or maybe I've misunderstood.)

You have a good point... I'm not sure that most people would pick up on the reference though, that's the kind of thing that only people who are highly interested in current events would get. I'll leave it up to the volunteer (if I find one) to decide what is best for it.

If the cartoonist wants to update that last panel a bit, he can turn the Constitution into a Frankenstein (of judicial case law) and show the Justices as Dr. Frankenstein... that would work too. Have them chanting "It's ALIVE!!" with the dungeon room and electricity and the whole bit, that would be great.

Ok now the idea mill is brewing... have the Constitutionstein have grafted onto it all the SCOTUS decisions that usurp legal authority - Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas, the latest Michigan case (Bollinger?), etc.

I really like the "It's ALIVE!" bit! You'd need a good sized picture to get the names of the cases on the document. Good luck!

Next one will be King George III appealing his case in the afterlife for parole from Purgatory...

Ok I was so enamored with this idea I bought some tracing paper and drawing tools and made it myself. I'll post the result tomorrow =)

Okay here's the result of my first attempt at putting together a political cartoon... lemme know if you think it's good enough to cross-post into News/Editorial! Please forgive the smudging, I had to do a LOT of erasing/redrawing to get it how I wanted it.
