I got bit by one of those spider creatures in the first week of last December. I was in the basement doing something unimportant and got bit. It was just above the ankle on the outside of my right leg. My eldest daughter(she who is just like her daddy) was down in January. She noted with some alarm that it looked pretty nasty. She immediately screamed for her husband,(He who cringes in the corner from fear of his wife ). Daughter never shouts when she can scream.

Hubby who is a doctor came running and I got hit with massive doses of antibiotics. He even told me what kind of spider it was. But I am like his wife... I never listen to him either. It took a month to heal and a gradually fading reddish blue spot is still visible on my leg.

I once asked my son-in-law why he worked such long and hard hours. He replied, "I just want to see if there is any standard of living YOUR DAUGHTER can't live beyond". I know it is my fault when he refers to her as YOUR DAUGHTER.

My youngest daughter was over today. She lives here in town and has been over a lot since school is out. She is an elementary teacher. She has been getting rid of her mothers clothes and other things of her Mom's we do not intend to keep.

She started about a month ago. The first day she was loading a van full of clothes for Good Will. As I was helping her she said, "I do get it honest, don't I?" I replied, "What do you get honest honey?" She said, "My love of clothes." I wisely said nothing.

Today she asked,"Dad do you have any idea of how much Mom spent on clothes?" I said, "No, honey I never paid any attention." She said, "Darn good thing."

Been watching clips of Ebsen on the tv today. Didn't realize how old he was!

Have to take John up to Cleveland airport before 5 a.m....so will start the thread when I get back...which will be earlier than today.

That was an intense, fast-moving storm....MORE yardwork, just as we'd cleaned up after the last one Sat.

I'm making red sauce from scratch tonight for the lasagne I'll be cooking for supper. I'm going to use some of the sausage I made yesterday in the lasagne. Since the stupid recipe called for fresh cilantro, instead of corriander, there is absolutely NO cilantro flavor to it and the jalapeno flavor is very mild, so it's similar to italian sausage.

First day with the new Chef (the Exec) was different. He wanders up and down rabbit trails when he lectures. And he gave us homework. Written homework. Very different from the last Chef who gave 10 minute lectures and then assigned what pastry or baking item we would be cooking.

I wisely said nothing.

That says it all, Buddie. If you're wise enough to restrain youself,,, you're wise enough.

That is an interesting take, and I actually think that it is not a bad idea. I do have a problem with the notion that our Troops over there are still being restrained to some degree. Political correctness, and the opinions of the UN and other Nations have no place influencing our American Military strategies.

I made Tex-Mex tonight...enchiladas, Spanish rice, and refired beans. I had to get it done early because daughter is leaving for the evening, and I can heat it up for my husband when he gets home.

Tomorrow I will have all three grandchildren here, so it is a good thing I took a long nap today!

No, she didn't say what kind of spider..but she didn't like the "SIZE and LOOK of it"...if have to call her if it gets worse in a day or two.

I decided to barbeque these spareribs I had roasted in the oven before I left for work this morning. I fired up the grill..it got nice and "RIGHT"..i put the ribs on the grill....and the SKY OPENED UP!!! POURED DOWN HARD!!!! So I stayed there letting the rain cool me off while the ribs cooked ;-)

Tomorrow I will have all three grandchildren here,

That's a blessing. :>) My little guy is in San Diego, and I won't get to see him again until Christmas.

Tex-mex is good reheated. It reheats well. I prefer refried beans the day after they are made.

I didn't get my nap today..:(

Errands....

..Our new mattresses arrive tomorrow, so I went to buy a new mattress cover...(**See, we can talk about any ole thing on this thread :>**)

Then I dropped my futon cover off at the cleaners, as we're getting a new futon thingie too!

It was hot as blue blazes outside....

..I got tired of my hair this AM....and went to a different haircuttery & had it cut....
..I always get knots in my stomach when I go someplace new.....but hubby will appreciate it, cause it was cheaper.

..I went to the market.....and even though there was no storm, no rain......the power kept going out.....

...once it was restored a few minutes...then it went out again.....weird!

John, we're having Aloha Chicken tonight......(a new recipe)

You are right, we can talk about any old thing here. This morning you heard about my dog getting a bath. Tonight, Tex-Mex for dinner. In between, I advised my daughter on coloring her hair, did a bunch of laundry, took a nap, and gneerally didn't do much else useful today.

Summer posted an interesting fish recipe by Jeb Bush earlier today. I think I will try that next weekend.

Tomorow's menu will be the usual grandchildren stuff.

I'm still playing computer geek. I'm waiting for my hard disk to finish defragmenting, then I will partition it, and install Linux (again). I have another job lead, my old boss called me and told me about it. It is nice to have friends looking out for me (with help from above.)

My sister just inherited a beautiful Brittany Spaniel. He's about eight years old, well-trained with papers. He's a bird dog! She brought him up to the cabin and he was very well behaved. He gets a bit excited when he comes inside, but soon settles down. We took him to see the fireworks, he kept lifting his head, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from, so he could go get those birds.

Hi K!!! Hope you are doing well sweetie!!

I picked up some real NICE SWEET AND JUICY peaches from Shop Rite yesterday.

They weren't quite ripe yet, so I put them in a paper sack and closed it up tight...

Tonite they have hit their peak!!!

I have not had peaches like these in quite a long time...

Other than apples...nice summer fruit is hard to find in this area!

I looooove peaches. I picked up some Queen Anne cherries for this weekend, yum. We're lucky here in Utah, we get all sorts of fruit all summer long: apricots, peaches, pears, cherries, apples, grapes, etc. And vegetables too, I love Utah sweet corn.

I'm going to try to post a picture of Ben (the dog.)

I'm not really all that surprised about Michael Savage being fired from MSNBC. I don't like the guy, he is way too abrasive for me. I was kinda surprised when MSNBC hired him.
