AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 894) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | July 3, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 07/03/2003 4:14:24 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

President Bush is considering sending troops to Liberia.

While not throwing full weight behind a Constitutional Amendment to guarantee such a thing, the President did say he believed that marriage was indeed a union between a man and a woman.

Two separate incidents temporarily shut down subway service and the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan yesterday. The subway was closed in the southern part of the island after finding suspicious packages, while the bridge was shut down because a man reported to authorities he had been offered money to drive a car parked outside City Hall and park it on the Brooklyn Bridge. The car was found to be clean.

And research has shown that regular pot smokers are at greater risk of mental illness later in life.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be performing with the Boston Pops this year for the Fourth of July concert. Here is the information:

New England's own patriotic holiday tradition, the "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular," will air on network television for the first time as CBS broadcasts the concert live (9 p.m. Friday on Channel 4). Country singer LeAnn Rimes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will perform. Harry Smith, anchor of the CBS News "Early Show," is the host.

"The great thing about the July Fourth concert is that we reach our broadest demographic of any time of the year," said Keith Lockhart, conductor of the Boston Pops. "If the Boston Pops is America's orchestra, then the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is America's chorus. With a choir of that massiveness singing 'Battle Hymn of the Republic,' and LeAnn singing her new song 'We Can' from 'Legally Blonde 2,' we're offering something for everybody."

I just got a call from one of my class-mates (my partner for pastries, actually). The rest of the class didn't fair as well on practicals.... Out of 18 pastry/baking students, 5 move up to hot foods, and 5 move to pastries. Everybody else is a do-over.

Thanks for that info. Since we had our local fireworks last weekend, I will tune in to the Boston Pops broadcast tomorrow night.

Tell Nita I am sipping on a martini and looking forward to the three-day weekend.

And Bit, remember this: she could have adopted a 160-pound coon hound! LOL!

I am glad you passed pastries, but sorry that we won't get any more cheesecake tips.

but sorry that we won't get any more cheesecake tips.

According to the contract, once I graduate, I can come back and request training for anything I want. I might do that for cheesecakes and baguettes. It doesn't seem like something so simple as a lean dough, shaped, and cut would be so difficult, but the perfect baguette has only happened a couple of times for me. ;>)

Though proving cause and effect might be a bit difficult.

Do you mean that causation and correlation aren't the same? What a concept. I'll have to remember that.

Out of 18 pastry/baking students, 5 move up to hot foods, and 5 move to pastries.

Does this mean the 5 who are moving to pastries, will be doing this section over?

It appears you have gotten thru this pastry section without discussing PopOvers. I was looking forward to that discussion. I bought a PopOver Pan and I'm going to do it before I get busy again.

Raven, that would be a long drive from Tenn. to GB via Akron! Your page has some excellent quotes. You may notice: my tagline is a Sowell quote, the title of one of his collections of essays.

Jane and Utah Girl, thanks for the Pops reminder. That concert is always a toe-tapper!

How come we haven't heard from Nita herself ????????????[signed, Suspicious in Akron]

Apparently, according to an article I just read in the WSJ, Gettysburg is not so crowded as other famous historical sites this year. The Air Force Museum in Dayton is extra popular this year, with some extra security.

For some reason Truman's home in Independence has some heightened security.

Well, time to get off to the airport.

This from today's Iowa Presidential Watch column: … “Angry Democrats” – subhead on opening item in the “Inside Politics” column in yesterday’s Washington Times. Greg Pierce’s report: “Even James Carville, the Democratic partisan known for his take-no-prisoners rhetoric, is feeling the heat from frustrated party members, the Associated Press reports. Mr. Carville said that during a recent trip to Seattle, at a liberal bastion where he is usually well-received, he was berated for not working hard enough to oust President Bush. ‘There is an intense anger out there among Democrats. It's like nothing I've ever seen, and they're upset with their own leaders,’ Mr. Carville said.” (Iowa Pres Watch Note: Actually, Carville didn’t have to travel Seattle to make that observation. All he had to do, as dozens of columnists and commentators have noted over recent days, was to check out the surge in Dean’s support – the strong domination of last week’s MoveOn.org virtual primary and this week’s FEC fundraising figures.}

It's about halfway down the page, just below the Pink Space entitled Clinton Comedies.
