AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 877) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | June 16, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 06/16/2003 4:15:04 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The 45th Paris Air Show has opened. In attendence was not a single representative from Lockheed Martin, the leading American defense contrator. Lockheed cited "scheduling conflicts."

Few Iraqis have turned in their heavy weapons after a deadline set by American forces had passed. In response, United States troops have started combat sweeps in towns based on intelligence reports and are seizing caches of heavy weapons.

Scientists have stated they have found the gene responsible for causing bipolar disorder (sometimes called manic-depressive syndrome).

American forces may be part of an international force to root out terrorism in the Mideast, particularly Hamas, says Senator Lugar.

Senator Leaky from Vermont has said the White House should consult with him and other leading Criminal Party members before selecting any Supreme Court nominee in order to avoid a "traumatic national battle," in the words of the New York Times.

And in Kantafordia, the recall petition now has around 700,000 of the 900,000 signatures it needs to obtain by the beginning of September. Governor Grayout Davis has made the following comment about the recall: ""It will move us backwards and cost the taxpayers $30 million. It's just a bunch of affluent losers who are trying to spend money to throw this state into reverse."

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

While I was out in the yard this afternoon...in a distance I heard a helicopter. As I always do...I turned to see which direction it was coming.

Uh oh!! When I saw it, it had huge spraying arms coming from the side. Panic hit for a second until I realized I was breathing normally.

I haven't seen one of those in this area in a long time. I think because of all the extra rain the mosquito population has increased...requiring some apraying.

Got it lysie.:-)) And replied. The Red Alert can be turned off!

Afternoon everyone!

Jane, the B & B we stayed at near the Erie Canal in NY state was a Victorian House. It was - in true Victorian manner - crammed with stuff.....not just furniture, but books and more books, and piles of magazines, stacks of old dress pattern envelopes, dolls, and flower arrangements, and pictures and more pictures.

The hostess is very skilled with cross stitch, and many of the frames held her works, and featured a rose theme which fit the often-used rose wallpaper, and the name of the place: Roselawne.:-))

The furniture in our room was especially appealing: oak and in fine shape. In particular, I loved a wonderful, cane-bottomed and back rocker. It wasn't too big and was so comfortable.

I think there's something else I wanted to say, but forgot...

Anyway, we liked it, and it was a big contrast with the place in s. Dutchess Co. That house was Federal style, and the owners had not overstuffed it with furniture and decoration. To me that's more comfortable, ultimately. It's a more restful style, but the first place had its charm, certainly.

John, we hadn't gone over with the idea of eating at the CIA, but when our hostess found out we were going up to Poughkeepsie, she recommended it for lunch, and of course, the little lightbulb in my head went ON!

THEN, the woman at the local history library in Poughkeepsie mentioned it too, so of course we HAD to go there.

It was all the more convenient as the library closed at noon for the afternoon!

Dog, did you happen to see that we had LIMA BEAN spread with our bread?? YUMMY!!

Dog, thanks for the pings to the Iran articles. Verrrry interesting.

Bit, so that plumbing museum isn't in Wisconsin?? WHAT a shocker!

Now please, PLEASE, don't reveal to my husband the location of this museum....It's enough that I know to avoid any trips to Worcester, Mass....

Now John, here's the CIA report:

There are several restaurants there -recently renamed and refocused, it sounds like, and open for limited hours at lunch time, and a little more at night, except for the Bakery/Cafe which has more extended hours.

We arrived on campus right at noon, and finding the signs posted around the grounds helpful, headed for the St. Andrew's Café, because I liked the name, associating it with Scotland.

It was bustling-busy, but we were seated right away.

That's when the plan went a little awry, cause we weren't given water like we're used to and it was awhile before anyone came to give us menus.

After 5 or 6 minutes, a young man arrived with menus and the rest of the lunch proceeded smoothly.

This particular restaurant features" bold and flavorful contemporary fare in a casual fine-dining setting."

I had a small "wood-fired" Pizza Margherita. It contained tomato, basil and Mozzarella. Very thin crust, and it was delicious!

My husband chose Sauteed Chicken breast, Cilantro Olive Sauce over Quinoa Potato Cakes and Seared Spinach, & All presented well on the large, white plates...

My husband was was quite happy with his choice, too.

With the bread, came the LIMA BEAN Spread, and in response to our query, our young server - a student - produced the recipe.

It had the flavor of Braunschweiger, but not too strong. Rosemary? I think that's it...

Anyway, after this, for dessert, we headed to another building - again following the signs - to the Bakery.

Most of the restaurants are spread out - either in a building by themselves, it looked like, or in a classroom building.

At the St. Andrew's, you could watch the chefs in action.

Walking thru the Bakery Building, you could see into some of the classrooms. For example, by one, was a sign with the name of a wine class, and the interior of the classroom looked like a cabaret, or something...dark and cozy, with comfortable chairs, etc.... Definitely NOT typical classroom!

The whole campus was pretty busy, everyone was dodging the rain showers, many were dressed in their white uniforms, and some were relaxing on a Hudson River overlook.

We stopped to admire the Graduating 2003 Class photo on one wall.

We were told that Dinner requires reservations. We didn't seem to need one for our mid-week luncheon.

If you want the whole menu for the St. Andrews...and it also has info about the other restaurants...let me know your address. It isn't large, and would be easy to mail. And if you have any other questions about our visit or impressions, fire away. I thought of you the whole time.

Re #80: Miss M., I am going to have to read that at least 60 times before I understand it. Let me see if I got it right:

The people of Maine (or the US if this dipwad gets elected to the U.S. Senate) are paying more for children to learn how to read and do better in school and getting better healthcare; however, they are not getting P.E. at school because they are cutting those programs back in order to give them the aformentioned; so in order to make up for it we will have to have a "junk food tax" and then they will sue McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. because they have no P.E. in Maine.

Did I get it right?

What happened to watching what your kids ate, letting them play outside all afternoon until they were so hungry they'd eat roadkill (just kidding) and being responsible for your OWN children? Oh yeah, Hillary's Village raised them. Sheesh.......

You remember that day that I told you Rush was so furious because some Vegetarian Group like the LeafLettuss sued McDonald's for cooking their French fries in beef laced vegetable oil??? I thought his head was going to explode and come flying through my car speakers....you know, that gas guzzling SUV I drive?

Is it me, or are the people the people on the left just getting stupider?????

Hey there, lysie! Did you hear that they found (3) 160,000 year old skulls in Ethiopia? Two males and a female child. I can just imagine how excited Helen Thomas must be about finally meeting her brothers!!!!!! ROFLOLOL........(sorry, I couldn't help it!!!)

Speaking of the old wind bag, have you heard who Ari's replacement is going to be? I was just watching Brett Baier(sp?) doing a "LIVE" exclusive interview with Torie Clark and at the the end he said, "We're sure gonna miss you"....did she quit or is she taking over Ari's job? Oh please, Torie!!!!!!!! Helen needs you!!!!! ;-)

At Costco this morning there was a conspicuous and large (compared to anything else) - about 50 - display of the Lying History. The cost was $15.49. It seemed undisturbed and I watched about 5 minutes and saw no one even pick it up (perhaps afraid of contamination) but several people checked the price.

Hey there, Deej. :-)

You are on a roll today. Keep it up...

:-)

Regarding Torie...who knows??? All I know is that she is leaving. There has been some speculation on the Torie thread that she may take Ari's spot..

I just looked out the computer room window and there are two horses standing in my front yard. They must have gotten loose, because they both have bridles on them and one even has a red blanket where you would sit on him. It's going to storm here, what should I do? They are very big horses and they look friendly but I don't want to spook them. Should I call Animal Control????

Are they there, still?

If you don't want to tie them to a tree I would notify someone of authority....animal control...police...or one of your local cowboys. LOL

Oh, man!!!! She would be awesome! Helen the Hag wouldn't stand a chance with Torie. If I were Helen, I'd be in church begging the good Lord above to forgive every lie that ever came out of my mouth.

Then again, by the time He was done with her, we might be walking with dinasours again....

I would call the police, and then animal control. The horses might have been reported missing or stolen to the police and they might have the name of the owner. THEN call animal control. You are right not to go out and spook them, if they have been stolen or have run away they are probably a bit disoriented.

Call the police.

Yes, they are still here..."shoo" doesn't seem to bother them....and Lucy won't stop barking.....and I don't have anything to tie them up with and I can't put them in the garage because the boat's in there.

I'll just call 911. Today would have been my father's 71st birthday. I think he's playing a joke on me...

The police are on their way....they have been reported missing, so the owner is coming with them. I wish my digital camera was working right now. They are just standing there, staring at me. They're beautiful.
