Part of the requirement of the paper is an analysis of excessive heat on chocolate. I need someone to take pictures whilst I take a blow-torch to a piece of chocolate and reduce it to vaporous carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. I will include the picture and describe the immense satisfaction I had at vaporizing the compound and describing the resulting smells.
Or, maybe he didn't mean that high of a temperature.

Being able to read well and read quickly is the greatest blessing that a child can have. On this Father's day, I would like to publicly thank my father for ensuring that I was able to go to private school and learn the excellent reading speed and comprehension which have supported me and my families well in the last mumble years.

Here comes the rain again, lighting, boomers, gonna be a washout for sure.
I am asking and but I am leaning on going to d house. As I said, this ole house gets so lonely without my wife, it means nothing to me anymore and when I say nothing I mean just that. All the laughter is gone to be nevermore, the tears are quicker to come in the late of night knowing Treva will not walk thru that door ever again. Guess I could be like a little church mouse and just get in my room at d house and not interfere cause that is the last thing I want to do and even now when I hear their conversation getting a little heated I leave the room (as couples will do).
By the way, I am one who thinks us 'daddys' have done pretty good and to all you daddy's out in freeper land, hava a good day cause we all deserver it. Yes, I will admit that the reason we have done pretty good is because of that wonderful lady we happened to marry.
Have a good night all, may God bless each and every one of you and I pray that you may be kept safe.

Amen!
By the way, I am still proud that the first word Nathan was able to read was "Bush" because of my bumperstickers and yard signs! LOL!

Yes! From O-H-I-O, which apparently is spelled C-O-N-F-U-S-E-D tonite!
Just Back dear FRiends!
Here's what I posted on Friday's thread, it looks like....
PB is better, lysie, and how's Sarah? How are YOU?
Wish that picture my husband took had caught me smiling. Egads!
Nita, and Bit, did you get to the airshow?
When we left you on Fri. we went back toward the Bridge to get some gas, then returned to tour Washington's Headquarters, where I almost slipped & fell on the wet leaves on the sidewalk and might have broken who-knows-what.
On Sat, leaving Newburgh about 2;30 we say some of the planes overhead, and several groups of watchers on the overpasses.
Oh it was so GOOD to spend time with ya'll, and HARD to say goodbye!

Your granddaughter's reading ability is truly amazing, MM. "Genius" is thrown around pretty freely and technically 1 in 50 qualify as geniuses according to Mensa's standards. But your granddaughter's reading ability, I'm sure, would put her well into the top fraction of a percentile, at least in that one skill area.
I'm sure you'd agree that genius is much more in the genes than anything else, although we can nurture it to the top.

Just ask Bit; I think I mentioned what a great time we had about a billion gazillion times!!!!
Glad you got to visit Washingtons Headquarters. When we saw you turn out towards the bridge, I had thought you had changed your mind!!
We missed the airshow, sort of...we were able to see what you saw saturday...we went back to the waterfront on saturday for a few drinks...
Then I saw them again today from my back yard!!!!

Well, speaking for Nita (which is always a dangerous endevour), we saw the airshow without actually going to the airport!!! We could see the Blue Angels from both her house and from the Hudson River water front....;-)

My son recognized words when he was 3, and was reading by age 4. My daughter was reading before she entered school at age 5. Ny niece (who was in Japan) read at age 3.
Nathan started recognizing words at age 4, and is reading now (starting 1st grade in the fall) at about a fourth-grade level.
Although all of these children are bright, I actually attribute this things which we all did as parents, and which anyone with small children can do.
1. Read to them out loud, and often.
2. Choose books which play on the theory of phonics. Dr. Seuss ABC is one such book.
3. Explain reading like it is a "secret code" and make a game of recognizing road signs and store logos.
4. Phonics type reading programs (which my son has) help the kids by reinforcing correct choices.
It is my opinion that many children are ready, and almost eager, to read between the ages of 3 and 4. Once they get the hang of phonics, they pretty much teach themselves, with only minor corrections needed.

We got back a short while ago from eating at a Chinese restaurant here in town. My kids gave me gifts and cards.
The most special one was from my oldest daughter. She had a picture of the two of us at Disneyland when she was 3 years old enlarged and made into a card and wrote a lovely letter about 3 special memories for her. I was very teary reading it in the restaurant.
Thanks for your Father's Day greetings, MP.

The sad part here is we aren't just talking about the kids here....
We are talking about my Mom too...if she does not get 100% undivided attention, including our minute by minute agenda...and if we are not back by feeding time, and Without ANY FOOD, she gets into quite a snit!
Sometimes I have an extremely difficult time figuring out just who the children in the house ARE!
