Good morning! I think Susan's very bright---just very difficult to listen to. IMHO, it would be a form of punishment to have to listen to Estrich conduct a one-on-one interview with Sen. Lieberman ; )
Squawk, whine, squawk, whine!
HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS DEAR TILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I was right....
..we sloshed through the Magic Kingdom last night.....but it was fun.
When we arrived, around 5PM, hubby had brought two huge umbrellas, but because the monsoon had stopped, we 3 kinda/sorta overruled him about carrying around the umbrellas.
Later, however, when we finally stopped for dinner in Norway, I started noticing folks coming in the restarant soaked to the skin or wearing slickers.
I thought 'uh oh'.....and hubby said...'I don't want to hear it!..:)'
kayak, after not visited EPCOT in probably 12 years, I noticed a LOT of differences.
They've taken out or changed some of the dear places or experiences I remember from years back.
The Imagination..ride with Figment...(which my kids loved)....has been replaced with a downsized Figment & a drearier, less exciting venue.
It just wasn't the same....
...We didn't have time to check out that part of the park very much, as the rides, for the most part, closed at 6PM.
But they have also added some more flash & dash, with lovely mazes and fountains and flowers, and everything still looked in great shape.
It wasn't very crowded.....and the 4 of us had fun walking around mostly.
Finally, we got hungry, and daughter talked us into going on the Norway ride and eating at the Akershus..restaurant.
It was yummy!....For a set price, you could have as many entrees as you wanted, from a fresh salmon, to venison stew, to crunchy breast of chicken, mackeral, etc., with assorted lovely vegetables, and a cold buffett bar with lots of smoked fish, shrimp salad, pickled beets (my favorite) and assorted breads and soups.
We were stuffed!
But when we started to leave, I noticed all the rainsoaked people coming in, and so we dashed across to the gift shop & Jen & I bought a Mickey Mouse slicker which we ended up sharing with our hubbies!
Later, as we meandered through the different countries, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Morroco, Japan, etc. we came upon the American Pavillion, and lo & behold, happened upon Arlo Guthrie, live & in person, playing at the amphitheater!!
He had just started his last gig, and we sat down to listen.
He had us all singing along at the end to This Land Is Your Land...his Dad's, Woodie Guthrie's, American anthem.
Arlo looked like what one would expect Arlo to look...:^
Grey/white hair now, but still long & tied in a ponytail.....jeans, and a tie-dyed shirt.
His daughter & son were playing guitar/keyboard and looked very much like him.
The background was very colorful.....psychedelic colors spelling out Flower Power...:^
My hubby kept hoping to hear Alice's Restaurant or City of New Orleans....but we must have missed those.
It was a lovely evening, and lastly, we all stood in the rain and watched the fireworks!!!
BTW, Miss Marple, illstillbe, Molly, lysie, and all you garden people!!
We happened to be there on the last day of EPCOT'S Flower & Garden Festival--(April 25-June 8).
Jen & I wandered through topiaries and tents with lovely blooms.
As Jen says, we--Jen/Mom don't grow...things well.
All of our plants die on us.....but Jen's hubby is a master gardener!!--(gets it from his grandfather, who was once highlighted in the Atlanta Journal & Constitution!)
Anyway, it was a special evening.....
...we use to take our two children to Disney every year, maybe twice or more in the same year--(being only an hour away)....
..now, Jen wants to share that experience again with her old mom & dad :))))
Excellent report. Thanks.
Our whole family... I mean brothers, sister, spouses, nieces, and nephews will all be heading to Disney World a few days before Christmas. We'll be staying at the Wilderness Resort's cabins.
I've never been there, but we're all looking forward to it.
This morning, I had to pick up girl child from a sleepover at a friend's house. A significant flooding event is underway. Many roads are barely passable by small cars - best to have a high-clearance vehicle. All streams are out of their banks, and many homes are in lakes that have never existed before (at least not in the last four years).
Still pouring.
..the kids were little, and we would wait for special Florida rates & get a season pass.
It all seemed rather charming & innocent 25 years ago, before the politics got involved.
But NY, it's still a lovely place to visit..(now that I've returned after all these years)
And it seems it's not as crowded as I remember it.
Wilderness Campground is great!!
They have a movie theater set up outdoors, so families can watch films in the evening together.....Disney Movies of course!...
I've never stayed in a cabin, or the lodge, but we did stay in one of the self contained mobile units, and it was very clean & nice!
While there, take a tour of some of the grander hotels, like the SWAN...and the Dolphin...or the Boardwalk....etc.
The hotels are oppulent, and have huge vases of fresh flowers daily.....just the presentation alone for ethestics is amazing.
We sure will take time to visit some of those hotels.
Stay dry...
I have often thought that if the left wants to destroy the family as the primary unit of society all they have to do is make all women sound like Susan Estrich.
Or as some guy said, "If I had to come home to that... I would not come home."
Herman's Hermits were there May 23-26....
...my daughter was surely sorry to have missed Davy Jones!.-(April 25-28)..she's a big (or was) Monkee's..fan :)))
The background was very 60's/70's :)))) ....(& I should know, I saw it in real time ..:^)
It has slacked off some now. It is only a light rain. There are several roadways closed in Fairfax county due to flooding.
