I decided at the last minute to go. We had tix way before all of this crap came down. Some observations:

Don't worry about the venue being "SOLD OUT" - it wasn't. Maybe all of the tix sold, but the place was 80% full - maybe.

Folks, this isn't a country band. If everyone who believes they like country music witnessed the 2 videos they showed - one of them to "#2 Truth", which preached tolerance, gay rights, and sublimely made my wife believe they were trying to make the point if you don't believe in all of this left-wing crap - then you're a racist - if you were to see it - there's no difference between them, Sheryl Crow, Chrissy Hynde, et al.

Mrs. Boob was ready to leave after the song but we came with another couple so we stuck it out.

Great stage set, okay music geared towards the 13-18 yo girls, juveniles on stage.

Lastly, Natalie Maines looked stupid with her big ol ears sticking out with a mohawk looking hairstyle. Not attractive at all - and certainly not a country band anymore.

The Chix are toast.

I've been to a number of events at the Erwin center--mainly b-ball games, but also two U2 shows as well as other lesser shows.

I have never heard it as loud as it was in there last night. Maybe a mostly female crowd is louder, but my ears were absolutely ringing during some of the ovations.

Most of the comments I heard regarding the protesters were simply "pathetic", or Thank God for free speech type statements. I did not hear a single word of support for the protesters, not that one would be expected from an obviously pro chix crowd. It was a sellout, and lower level seats were going for face value or above. Most of the excess seats were in the upper levels, which is a terrible place to view an event in the Erwin center.

My thoughts on the Chix controversy is that it is alienating them from their country music base, but earning them credibility with the pop/rock crowd. They stated last night that they would release their next single as a pop single. The anti-Keith shirt is probably conceived to prolong the controversy. They're using the protest to increase their profile and sales. As such, I think they believe the protest is probably working for them more than against them.

We had several folks that were attending the concert thank us for being there. One lady stopped to say that she bought her tickets before they made those remarks, but had promised her young daughter that she would take her. We had a couple of folks driving by yelling encouragement(and some yelling other things).

One guy wanted us to help him sell his tickets, so we chanted, "Get your tickets, Cheap, Cheap". He couldn't get anyone to buy them for half-price and finally gave them away.

All I could think when I saw her (I had the sound muted, BTW) was "Ewwwwwwwwww--she looks so butch!" It's like all the hardness inside is starting to show up on the outside.
