Eh! - Don't be so hard on yourself! First, the pictures that you want to load have to 'be' on the web. The picture isn't physically loaded to the profile, it is just linked there with HTML code. If you have personal photos that you want to load to your profile, you will have to upload them to a public domain somewhere...
I recommend York photo for most pictures ( York Film Developers )the links stay really stable and load quick, even when I post the pics to threads or pages that are getting a lot of hits. They do limit the picture dimensions, so it isn't good if you want to load really high-res photos.
Once the pics are uploaded somewhere, or if you want to post pictures that are already on the web, then Right click on any picture and view and copy the properties to get the web address for the picture alone.
As a test, The first pic on my own profile has a URL of:
http://images.yorkphoto.com/334%3C5%3B6323232%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2327%3D5%3B4%3D337%3Dxroqdf%3E23232%3C9%3A5%3A5%3A6ot1lsi
(Downside of york is the the URLs are really long)
The HTML is < IMG SRC="URL">
So < IMG SRC="http://images.yorkphoto.com/334%3C5%3B6323232%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2327%3D5%3B4%3D337%3Dxroqdf%3E23232%3C9%3A5%3A5%3A6ot1lsi">
Gives me this (When I delete the space after the < mark above.... had to put that in to get it to show the code)

Simpler example, using the FR logo on the FR Front page:

code: < IMG SRC="http://www.freerepublic.com/images/frlogo.gif">

Gee..... You're Welcome.
I guess next time someone asks a vague question, I should just ignore it instead of asking a clarifying question before giving a very full answer to the question, because he may just call me "El Stupido" and then ignore my very helpful answer.
Nah.... I am too nice a person to let one sour apple ruin it....
I enjoy helping most people!

THANK YOU. Please excuse my rudeness. Can you also answer my second question above?
Thank you,

Ummm.... not sure... when I had selected the properties of a picture and copied them, the "Paste" function was not accessible until I had the cursor in the editable reply window. Just viewing a page, it was grayed out for me too.
