Should I move to Arizona?

Posted on 05/11/2003 3:03:32 PM PDT by 1stFreedom

I'm thinking about packing up from NY and moving out to Arizona. But before I consider moving out there, I want to make sure I'm not moving to another Kalifornia or New York.

What is the political climate like? Is it conservative? Republican?

What are the philosophical undertones of the population? Conservative? Liberal?

How about the faith of the population? Is there a large Catholic [faituful] population?

How are the gun laws?

Is the State homeschool friendly?

How organized are Freepers out there?

What is the best place to find employment for IT workers? What is the best place to move to avoid allergies?

I'm thinking Phoenix. What do you think?

My parents and three sisters live in the Phoenix area. They are all conservative and vote Republican. I would not feel uncomfortable living there, politically-speaking.

I'm leaving Kalifornia for Dallas.

It is centrally located, has a major international airport and Texas doesn't have income tax. You can get a 3-bedroom house in Irving for < 100,000. You can't even get a 1-bedroom shack in Kalifornia (anywhere!) for < 400,000

It's legal to carry guns in Arizona last I knew.

Arizona is a relatively conservative state, though not overwhelmingly so. I suppose it's as conservative as any other.

The Phoenix area, where half the population lives, can get up to 120 degrees (normal hight of 110). It can be dusty. (I left partly because I developed allergies.)

Are you in Muleshoe? I just looked at the map. Am kind of curious about that area. I used to live in Carlsbad, NM, but left in the early 1960's.
