Lone Star Chat
Texas ^ | Saturday, May 10, 2003 | A Texan

Rally for America!

Our Texas Locale page recently got very busy on the unusual topic of Ouija boards and such. Archy suggested a Lone Star Thread That Will Not Die. Like those darn Hobbit threads with 30,000+ posts.

This is not my thread and I'm not going to baby sit it every day. I just gathered the kindling and y'all have to start the fire.

I would imagine that all postal matches require a pretty faithful honor system... We will have to trust.... and check for powder burns! ;~D

"but the powder burns made the target hard to read!!!"

Those were NOT powder burns!
To hit the bull at a thousand yards I had to fire with a lot of elevation.
The rounds passed through a flock of southbound geese who released from their northbound ends what looked like powder burns by the time it hit the target.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

There have been at least 2 FReeper postal matches. I found a thread for one.

I'd be interested in that. I'll take on anyone at 100 yard open sights
or unlimited range scope competition. 'Course I may wish to
borrow from Eaker or Texas Cowboy.
Or Bigun, if I want to win quickly!

I want a handgun match. 25 yards!

I don't have a rifle, or anything else I could fit a scope on, just sidearms.

I don't own a handgun, although I could maybe borrow one of several!
I'm a long-gun person, but I'd be happy to shoot pistols!

Maybe we could have both.... a rifle match for long-gun folks, and a handgun match for those of us who like little guns!

I'd be happy to mail back a smashed up clay pigeon, but I am not sure how we would judge that one!

Let's make this interesting:

Let's get ten of us together who would like to compete with the .50 caliber at 1000 yds.
I propose that instead of targets we shoot at cantaloupes.
Let's all pitch in $25 bucks.
The one who hits the most out of five cantaloupes wins.
The one who hits the least has to buy the cantaloupes and the beer afterward.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Like a bolwing pin shoot. But, darlin', I am only an honorary Texan, sitting way up here in Washington State!

That works fine for me, where do we find the 1000 yards?
I have some property in Elgin...

I got my first 1000 but I'm still trying for 10000. I missed 50000 by 23 and I started spamming 30 out
