How do you feel about poor people? Do you love 'em, hate 'em, are you ambivalent towards them? Do you think of them as the lazy poor or just dead-beats??
It doesn't matter if you are poor or not...just a discussion.

But seriously though, I've heard the
Ketchup Soup commercials and I find them really hard to believe.
I mean other than someone's mother spending the entire govt. check on crack.

considering that 80% of the poor people in America have a car AND cable service... im not to concerned either way.i feel to them like i feel to rich people. its what they got handed, just dont rip anyone off, and no one will care. i have volunteered at a shelter on occasion and find that for the most part, alot of them are just down on their luck. i also feel though that luck is nothing compared to good ethics (both work and life) and that if most of the people had just done the right thing more often, they would find themselves in much better situations. (that 19 year old mom with 4 babies and a dead beat husband? bad choices. all she had to do was NOT have sex with the guy at 14)

Poor is one thing, homeless another. I contribute to our local shelter, and once gave all my vacation money to a family living out of their car. I've been poor, and now am fairly well-off, and let me tell you, it's better to be fairly well-off.

Pintos don't disgust me...they arouse my sense of beauty. What's wrong with having a crappy car?
Notice I didn't say 10 crappy cars, I said a crappy car...

We once took a young man (15 yrs old) in to live with us. His parents were living out of their car.
The young man stayed with us awhile, and then lived with another family.
He graduated from high school, got a job, and his own place.
Now his parents live off of him!

I feel sympathy for them. Most of the poor I know are hard working Americans who try so hard but are stuck in an anti-American worker political morass not of their making.

Honest hardworking people who happen to be poor don't suck.
Stupid people with no decision making skills who happen to be poor suck.

I don't dislike them, but I don't feel that it's my place to have to take care of them. If they don't want to be poor, they need to get a job. My grand pa was a share cropper and my dad left home when he was 12, my dad even though he was poor gratuated from High School, then College and went on to be a Bank President and then an Executive for one of Florida's biggest banks. This is the land of opportunity, they just need to get off their asses and make something of theirselves.

Unfortunately, they suck too, but not as much. Poor decision making skills will mess up whatever you've tried to accomplish, which is why it's so important to ask for help and advice when you're faced with certain choices.
