I think that it is time to take the crayons away from the car designers. Butt ugly, IMHO.

I would have to disagree, it is a nice looking car, a very nice looking car.

I don't like it either. Just goes to show there is no accounting for taste.
I remember when the 58 Chevy came out. No one liked it, but now I think it is a nice car. Some things just grow on you.

I agree, it sets a new standard for ugly in its class. The Pontiac Aztec holds this standard in Sport UTE class. If my dog looked like either of those vehicles I'd have to shave her behind and teach her to walk backwards.

Art Deco looks plus Golden Age muscle.....kind of what a 40's design shop might doodle on a napkin, as their idea of what a Year 2000 personal rocket sled ought to look like.
Kinda reminds me of those big, fast Buick Roadmasters of 50 years ago that salesmen used to love.

Vroooom!

I am extremely impressed with the styling (or retro-styling) of the '04-1/2 ('05) Mustang...

These can't be the same designers. That 427 looks like crap. Put a real grill on the sumbitch and start thinking outside the boxy lines. If you want the buying public to spend 35-40K on a car, give 'em a reason to. It doesn't matter what's under the hood, by the time it's on the street, it looks like all the other crap coming out of Motown.

Looks like they took a Radio Flyer, added some headlights and grillwork then painted it black.
Ugh...

Butt ugly, IMHO. Well, that's what makes horse races. I think the comic-book movies have been having an effect. I was surprised at the retro appearance of both the Prowler and the PT Cruiser, but I could see Green Lantern and the Hornet prowling the mean streets in a car that looked like this.
Movies like The Rocketeer, Dick Tracy, and Batman recalled the 40's comic books and the cars that those artists used to draw, and now someone has executed those old dream cars in sheet metal. The Cord sedans also come to mind.

I just realized what it is which causes the negative connotation.
I saw a movie a while back which started out ok but deteriorated quickly. It was called "Jeepers Creepers" and featured a ghoul driving an old truck which somehow makes me think of this new car.

Some things just grow on you. Yeah, like fungus.

***sigh***
They should just remanufacture the '57's, T-Bird and all.
Ford is pulling the plug on the "new" T-Bird, effectively putting that butt-ugly thing out of its misery.
Give me a '57 Sunliner (or was it a Skyliner?) with a top that folds into the trunk, a continental kit, Turnpike Cruiser skirts, baby moon hubcaps, white tuck & roll upholstery, glasspack mufflers on the 312 Y-block V8, paint the whole thing bright red, and I'm ready to rock & roll.

With the limited view of the engine it still looks like an old 427 SOHC from the 60's-70's. A great old motor that never got the credit due.

I like the neo-Pony; but the analogue is the wrong pony car -- this one is designed to recall the '67 Mustang 390. Four tailpipes and a 390 4-barrel turned the Mustang into a rocket ship. The wildest ride I ever took was a one-mile blast up Ocean Boulevard in heavily-policed Virginia Beach in an arrest-me orange Mustang 429 CobraJet, vintage 1969. Then the driver, who was showing the car off, did a flip and did it again -- and I couldn't lift my arms. Loverly. If the cops had seen him, we'd both still be in jail.
Wonder what they're going to put under the hood? The current V-8 is nice, but gradually losing the HP contest to rice wagons on steroids like the Nissan Altima and Maxima.
Bring back the 351 Cleveland!
And six taillights!
