If there was an once of brains between them they would say, " What we said was stupid and we wish we never said it. We beg the forgiveness of the President and our Fans, God Bless America." Then shut their stupid mouths. But they keep qualifying everything they say. I'm surprised the hole they have dug hasn't come out in China yet.

"Psuedo Apology" I like that. Most descriptive.
Her "apology" is rather on a par with Hanoi Jane's apology.

Their bosses are ordering them to say something, and this is as much as they can bring themselves to say.

The top country station in KC (which is still not playing the Chicks' music, BTW) played 9 clips this morning from the interview. The clips chosen weren't very good for the Dixie Chicks' position, and the radio guys called them on it. When Emily stated she had received a death threat, the radio guy said he didn't believe that.
All in all, the clips make it sound like the Chicks are going to play the victim card. Get ready for Jim Bakker flashbacks.

I heard Ms. Maines's statement on the radio this morning. The announcers asked the radio audience, "Do you accept this apology?" Well, I'd accept one if I ever heard one, but they didn't apologize. There was not one time during that interview when Ms. Maines said, "I'm profoundly sorry fow what I said. It was foolish, and I was wrong--I was speaking without being adequately informed, speaking from emotion rather than from a defensible intellectual position founded on careful research and consideration. I beg the forgiveness of Mr. Bush and the American people, whose beloved president I insulted."
I'm not holding my breath. It's very clear that Ms. Maines has not changed her mind at all in her fundamentally ungracious and graceless interview.

Dianne Sawyer this AM on Good Morning America :
'you would have to be in a coma not to like their new album' and other endorsements.
Dianne Sawyer is a creepy and extremely well paid purveyor of cultural soft core smut and other media agendas.

The Chicks' apologies fall flat because they don't get to what they are apologizing for. In other words, what was meant by being "ashamed" that the President was from Texas? Ashamed about what? Absent an explanation of what it is about Bush that causes them shame, the apology is BS and CYA.

From
Dixie Chicks: Reaction to Bush Remark Is 'Overboard':
"At that moment, on the eve of war, I had a lot of questions that I felt were unanswered," Maines said. "I think the way I said it was disrespectful. The wording I used, the way I said it, that was disrespectful. I feel regret for, you know, the choice of words. Am I sorry that I asked questions and that I don't just follow? No."
My question to Ms. Maines: since when does the President or even the Pentagon for that matter have to answer your questions? Does she expect a private briefing on the war?
ABC has been playing snippets of the interview, and she comes across as a spoiled, simpering brat. She's not sorry, that's certain. And if she's gotten death threats--what celebrity doesn't? Get over it, Ms. Maines. And while you're at it, get over yourself.

After reading how the chicks were number 1 on billboard's album chart, I checked all the airplay countdown charts that really matter (Airplay only, not sales related) for this week:
American Country Countdown with Bob Kingsley: Top 40 #1 Darryl Worley, Have You Forgotten?
CountryStars.com (Website for Great American Country) Top 20 #1 Darryl Worley, Have You Forgotten?
CMT.com Top 20 #1 Deana Carter, There's No Limit
Billboard Singles Top 20 #1 Darryl Worley, Have You Forgotten?
The Blue Chip Adult Country Chart Top 35 #1 Darryl Worley, Have You Forgotten?
None of these charts had the Dixie Chicks anywhere on them. I am wondering if the Billboard album charts (based on sales) is based on sales from a few weeks back. I say this because Darry Worley's new CD came out last week and he was nowhere in the top 20 albums, and I'd figure with all this airplay, he'd be getting more sales.

The lead singer in that group seems to be demented to me, just nutso...and I've known some nutso lead singers, it's a requirement for the job. See: Vedder, Eddie; Roth, David Lee...

Hell, I get an occasional death threat too, and I'm not even "a celebrity." 'Course, I don't have layers upon layers of bodyguards, alarm systems, and security screens around me like the shark jumping Chicks do.
