Avacados, are called "palta" down here. I'm almost, (almost) embarrassed to tell you that we buy them by the kilo down here. Every Thursday the wife goes to the marcado and avacados sell for $1.50 for 2.2 POUNDS. Yikes are they good.

Geese can be a problem, so can turkeys. We have wild turkeys around here, and some areas really have a problem with them. The suburban area where I live has a lot of open space within the city limits, and the turkey population is really increasing. They go into people's yards and poop all over. We have pigeons roosting on the front of the house, pooping on everything. I'm going to have to call an animal control company to get rid of them. Our neighbors are too close in for me to go out in the front yard and shoot them. Swervie suggests I intimidate the neighbors sufficiently so that they'll be afraid to call the police, but I don't think that'll work.

That's a good deal for the 'cados. We pay a LOT more for them here, hence the desire to put a tree in the backyard. Most of the ones available here are the Hass. Do you know what variety you have there?

mmmmmmmmmmm... I LOVE avocado. My kids don't care for them, but I don't think a salad is complete without them.

Good Tuesday Morning FReeople

We had wild turkey a few years back, I think they were lost or something .. they would just walk up and down the streets and they one day they disappeared ..
I hate pigeons .. they are a problem in Philly but not up here where I am .. Thank Goodness

We have at least three types, but Hass are the most common. For salads, most resturants serve an avocado half stuffed with crab or shrimp...can you tell I'm sick of camp food?
We're now starting our artichoke season here...another one of my many, many weaknesses.

A cow...I see a cow in your photo.
The wife and I get a kick out of the location where the news correspondents stand when they are at Crawford...there's always a lot of neat farm stuff in the background.

Hi, Got your mail....now you have FM.
Ok guys and gals..start with the prayers again for Taco. He has been having a little cough which I told you about yesterday. But I thought I ought to have him checked out today just to be safe. Well the vet doesn't know what it is...it could be anything from asthma or a hairball something minor to , gulp, metastic fiborsarcoma. It sounds like the bronchitis type thing. so tomorrow he goes in for a scope of the nose and throat area. He has had a history of sneezing and runny nose..so they want to find out if it is allergy, infection of some sort or worst case...cancer in the lung. Pray it won't be anything too bad. I am really nervous about this whole thing which is going to cost a fortune ( 500 bucks worst case)...I am a bundle of nervs again. If it is the big C there is nothing they can do. He had chest xrays last Dec which were nice and clear so they do have a base line to look at...Hope it is nothing serious but I am worried.

Avacados, are called "palta" down here.I guess they're still too mad at the Mayans to use their word for testicle to describe the fruit (it's a vegetable!)...

You know they finally got a National Cemetary out here a few years ago...It has been vandalized almost from day one. It got hit again the other night..Only tore down flags this time...Before they have done that plus leave used condoms on the graves.... I won't be buried in such a place....Have arranged to have my ashes dumped out at sea....Guess I'm just a spoil sport for the younger generation......

Man! Anyone caught doing that needs to be shipped off to boot camp immediately.

A real shame about the desecration of any cemetery, much less a military one.
We are in agreement here that torching and tossing is the way we wish to go with these mortal shrouds. If one is not remembered and kept alive in the hearts of those who remain, why should we think that they would properly tend a grave on the appropriate occasions?
Cheers.
